The Twins released Jackson on Thursday, Brandon Warne of Access Twins reports. Jackson cleared waivers and was sent outright to Triple-A St. Paul on Sunday, but rather than keeping him on the minor-league staff, the team will now cut ties with the 36-year-old reliever. In 26.1 innings with Minnesota this season, he posted a 7.52 ERA and 1.41 WHIP alongside a 29:9 K:BB. He'll now attempt to latch on with another club -- most likely on a minor-league deal.

The Twins outrighted Jackson to Triple-A St. Paul on Sunday. Jackson has now been moved off the Twins' 40-man roster on two occasions this season, but unless he elects free agency, he'll stick around in the organization as relief depth at Triple-A. Over 20 appearances out of the Minnesota bullpen this season, Jackson has posted a 7.52 ERA and 1.41 WHIP across 26.1 innings.

The Twins designated Jackson for assignment Thursday, Bobby Nightengale of the Minneapolis Star Tribune reports. The move comes shortly after Jackson allowed three runs in an inning of work during Thursday's loss to the Rays. Jackson cleared waivers and accepted an outright assignment by the Twins last month, so he might wind up sticking around in the organization again. The club will announce a corresponding move prior to Friday's game in Oakland.

The Twins selected Jackson's contract from Triple-A St. Paul on Wednesday. Minnesota cleared room for Jackson on the 26-man active roster by optioning right-hander Louie Varland to Triple-A and on the 40-man roster by designating right-hander Diego Castillo for assignment. The 36-year-old Jackson is joining the Twins for the second time this season after he was included on the Opening Day roster before he was DFA'd in May after turning in a 6.85 ERA over 22.1 innings. The veteran righty turned in three scoreless one-inning appearances for St. Paul to get the call back to Minnesota.
