  Sale (10-6) earned the win against the Rangers on Friday, allowing two hits while striking out six across seven scoreless innings. He did not issue a walk. The veteran southpaw was sharp in Atlanta's first game since the All-Star break. He limited the Rangers to just two hits and retired 13 straight batters from the third to seventh frames, ending his night with 16 whiffs on just 89 total pitches. It was the 11th quality start of the season for Sale, whose 2.06 ERA (across 105 innings) is third best among qualified starters in the majors behind Jacob Misiorowski (1.62) and Cam Schlittler (2.05). Sale is lined up to face the Padres at home next week.

The shortened showing ends a streak of 13 straight outings of at least five innings for Sale, who hasn't surrendered more than three runs in an appearance since April 6 in Anaheim. The 37-year-old closes out the first half of the season with a 2.20 ERA, 1.11 WHIP and 117:25 K:BB across 98 innings.

  Sale (9-6) notched the win Saturday against the Mets, allowing three runs on seven hits and two walks in five-plus innings. He struck out three. Sale was cruising along Saturday with four shutout innings, but he was chased after allowing four consecutive Mets to reach to begin the sixth. The All-Star southpaw wasn't overly dominant, matching a season low in strikeouts and getting take deep twice for just the second time this season. The victory was never truly in doubt, however, since he received plenty of run support. Sale will carry a stellar 2.27 ERA, 1.12 WHIP and 112:24 K:BB over 95 innings into a challenging road test in Pittsburgh for his next scheduled appearance.

  Sale (8-6) allowed two runs (one earned) on eight hits and a walk while striking out 10 over six innings, taking the loss versus San Francisco on Sunday. Sale was good, throwing 68 of 94 pitches for strikes, but Robbie Ray was a little more efficient in this pitching duel. Sale hadn't completed six innings in any of his last four outings, giving up nine runs (seven earned) over 22 frames in that span. This was his second game with double-digit strikeouts this season. The star southpaw has a 2.10 ERA, 1.08 WHIP and 109:22 K:BB through 90 innings across 15 starts this season. Sale is projected to make his next start at home versus the Mets.

  Sale (8-5) took the loss Wednesday against the White Sox, allowing two runs on six hits and one walk while striking out six over 5.2 innings. Sale turned in another great performance, throwing 66 of his 103 pitches for strikes while generating 13 whiffs. Both runs he allowed came in the fourth inning, and he exited in the sixth having received no run support from Atlanta's offense. While the veteran left-hander continues to pitch at an elite level, he has now failed to complete six innings in three straight starts after reaching that mark in nine of his first 10 outings this season. Through 78.1 innings, Sale ranks top six among qualified starters in MLB in ERA (2.30), strikeouts (92) and wins. The 37-year-old is currently lined up to face San Francisco in his next start.
