The Brewers declined Sanchez's $11 million mutual option for 2025 on Saturday, Curt Hogg of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel reports. Sanchez slashed .220/.307/.392 across 280 plate appearances in 2024 while serving as Milwaukee's backup catcher behind William Contreras. Rather than keeping Sanchez in town for another year on an $8 million raise, the Brewers will move on from the 31-year old backstop and perhaps look to Eric Haase to fill his place. Meanwhile, Sanchez's power bat may draw attention from several teams this offseason.

Sanchez went 1-for-3 with a solo home run in Saturday's 5-2 win over the Rockies. Sanchez set the tone for the Brewers early, following up Willy Adames' solo homer in the first inning with a shot of his own. His 10th homer of the year was just his third in 36 home games thus far. Sanchez got his first hit since Aug. 25, after he had gone 0-for-15 in his previous five games. The 31-year-old catcher has now hit 10 or more home runs in each of the last nine seasons.

Sanchez isn't in the Brewers' lineup for Tuesday's game against San Francisco. Sanchez went 3-for-6 with a homer and five RBI during Milwaukee's previous series against the Athletics, and he'll now get a breather to open the Brewers' three-game set against the Giants. In his place, Jake Bauers will serve as the designated hitter and bat fourth.

Sanchez went 1-for-2 with a two-run home run and a walk during Sunday's 4-3 loss against the A's. Sanchez cleared the fence for the ninth time this season and has now driven in five runs and scored three over his last two starts. Sanchez has collected at least one hit in 10 of his last 11 starts while his .243 batting average on the season is the best he's posted since 2017 while with the Yankees.

Sanchez is not in the starting lineup for Saturday's game against Oakland. Sanchez went 2-for-4 with two runs scored and three RBI in Friday's 11-3 win over the Athletics. For the month of August, he is slashing .313/.450/.500 with six runs scored, seven walks, one home run and eight RBI across 40 plate appearances. Rhys Hoskins will serve as the designated hitter and bat sixth.
