  Story is absent from Sunday's lineup against the Rays. Nick Sogard will start at shortstop and bat sixth in the Red Sox's regular-season finale. Story's 2024 season looked to be over after dislocating his left shoulder in early April, but he was able to return to the big club in September. Since his return, Story has slashed .270/.361/.429 with two home runs and six RBI across 72 plate appearances.

  Story is not in the lineup for the second game of Sunday's doubleheader against the Twins, Mac Cerullo of the Boston Herald reports. The Red Sox are starting a rather surprising number of regulars in both ends of the twin bill, but Story is not among those starting in Game 2, which makes sense given he just returned earlier in September after missing five months with a dislocated left shoulder. Story went 1-for-4 with a run scored and three strikeouts in the Red Sox's 8-1 win in the early game. Nick Sogard with take over at shortstop and bat sixth against right-hander Zebby Matthews.

  Story went 2-for-3 with a solo home run, an additional run and two stolen bases in Wednesday's 2-1 win against the Rays. There wasn't much offense between the two teams, but Story stuffed the stat sheet anyway, belting a solo homer in the sixth inning and swiping a pair of bags. The long ball was the shortstop's second since he returned Sept. 7 from an absence of over five months due to a dislocated shoulder. Since being activated from the IL, Story has batted .286 (10-for-35) with four RBI and four steals over 10 games.

  Story went 3-for-4 with a stolen base and a run scored in Saturday's 7-1 win over the Yankees. Story, who hit .167 over his first five games since returning from a shoulder injury, may be getting his timing down against MLB pitching. This was his second straight multi-hit effort, and he's gone 5-for-8 including a home run in that span.

  Story went 2-for-4 with a two-run homer in Friday's loss to the Yankees. Story's two-run blast in the seventh inning was his first home run in nearly a calendar year. It was also his first extra-base hit since returning from the injured list Sept. 7. He's slashing .226/.281/.340 with four extra-base hits and seven RBI through 14 games this season.
