  The Giants signed Houser to a two-year, $22 million contract with a club option for 2028 on Tuesday, Jeff Passan of ESPN.com reports. Houser showed more velocity and put together a bounce-back season in 2025, collecting a 3.31 ERA and 92:38 K:BB over 125 innings covering 21 starts between the White Sox and Rays. The veteran right-hander will turn 33 in February and lands in a favorable home environment in Oracle Park, but Houser's fantasy value will remain limited because of a lack of strikeouts.

  Houser didn't factor into the decision Saturday against the Red Sox, allowing three runs on five hits and three walks in six innings. He struck out two. Houser may not have been dominant, but he did just enough to hold the Red Sox in check and log his second straight quality start. The right-hander's effectiveness has taken a hit since he joined the Rays, as he has a 4.65 ERA over 50.1 innings for Tampa Bay, but it's still been a fine campaign as a whole. Across 119 frames, Houser has a 3.18 ERA, 1.27 WHIP and 87:36 K:BB. He's set to wrap up the year next weekend in Toronto.

Houser yielded an early run in the first inning but settled in after that, blanking Chicago over the next four frames before surrendering a solo homer to Ian Happ in the sixth. Houser cruised through the first five frames and allowed just one baserunner, but things fell apart in the sixth inning, when he surrendered all four of his runs. Despite the stumble, Houser still logged a season-high eight strikeouts and was good enough to take home the win. Since being acquired by the Rays, however, he's allowed four or more runs in four of six starts, posting a 4.91 ERA and 27:10 K:BB across 33 innings during that stretch. The 32-year-old will look to replicate the strong early innings from Wednesday's outing in his next scheduled start against his former team, the White Sox.
