• Angels' Jorge Soler: Unlikely to return in final week

  Soler (back) has continued to ramp up his activity at the Angels' complex in Arizona, but he appears unlikely to be activated from the 60-day injured list before the season ends Sunday, Jeff Fletcher of The Orange County Register reports. "Whether he's activated or not, we'll see," interim manager Ray Montgomery said of Soler. "But in terms of the mentality, he knows his body is in a good spot. Going into the offseason, that would be huge." Soler has been on the shelf since July 26 due to low back inflammation, and though he's seemingly steered clear of setbacks since reporting to Arizona on Sept. 11 to continue his workouts, the Angels are eliminated from playoff contention and don't have much incentive to rush the 33-year-old back for the final week of the season. Before landing on the IL, Soler slashed .215/.293/.387 with 12 home runs, 34 RBI and 31 runs in 82 games. Soler should be in line for a normal offseason and will be entering the final season of a three-year, $42 million contract in 2026.

  The Angels transferred Soler (back) from the 10-day injured list to the 60-day IL on Monday. Soler has been on the shelf since July 26 while recovering from low back inflammation, and though he's currently taking part in baseball activities, his move to the 60-day IL means that the Angels don't anticipate him returning until the final week of the season. Before being shut down, Soler hit .215 with 12 home runs, 34 RBI and 31 runs in 82 games.

  Soler (back) has increased his work on the field as of Friday, as he's been shagging flyballs in addition to hitting against high-velocity pitching, Jeff Fletcher of The Orange County Register reports. The 64-72 Angels are well removed from wild-card contention, but Soler still appears to be gearing up for a return before the end of the season after he was placed on the injured list July 26 due to low back inflammation. He's continuing to steadily incorporate more activity into his workouts, but the Angels haven't yet revealed when he'll be ready for a rehab assignment. Once he's activated from the IL, Soler should settle back in as the Angels' primary option in right field, which will result in Jo Adell shifting back to center field on a more regular basis.

  Soler (back) has been cleared to start swinging a bat and begin running and throwing progressions, Jeff Fletcher of the Orange County Register reports. Soler was placed on the 10-day injured list July 26 due to lower-back inflammation, and after a shutdown period, he's back to baseball activities. The team has yet to disclose a timetable for his return, but the fact that he's taking cuts in addition to running and throwing is a sign that he could return before the end of the 2025 campaign.

  Soler (back) has yet to resume baseball activities, per MLB.com. Soler has now been out of action for over three weeks, as he last played July 23 against the Mets. The veteran outfielder has had an issue with his back on multiple occasions this year, so the Angels may be opting to give him all the time he needs to recover given their current place in the standings (they sit five games out of a wild-card spot with three teams ahead of them in the race for the final bid). Since Soler has been out of action, Jo Adell has been getting most of the starts in right field while Bryce Teodosio has become a near-everyday presence in the lineup in center.
