Gonzalez signed a minor-league contract with the Reds on Tuesday, Jon Heyman of the New York Post reports. Gonzalez spent the entire 2023 season with the Triple-A affiliate of the White Sox and slashed .272/.322/.360 with five homers and three steals across 131 games. The 32-year-old will function as organizational infield depth for Cincinnati leading into the 2024 campaign.

Gonzalez was reassigned to minor-league camp by the White Sox on Monday, LaMond Pope of the Chicago Tribune reports. Gonzalez was signed as a non-roster invite in January. The infielder was given an chance to win a backup infield spot with the White Sox, but Hanser Alberto will almost assuredly win that job with Gonzalez moved to minor-league camp.

Gonzalez signed a minor-league contract with the White Sox on Saturday. Gonzalez, 31, is a career .242/.276/.340 hitter over parts of seven major-league seasons. He most recently was with the Marlins for a brief period in 2022, appearing in 16 games. The White Sox have an opening at second base, but it won't be a good sign for the team's success if Gonzalez winds up playing a lot for them.

The Marlins outrighted Gonzalez to Triple-A Jacksonville on Sunday after he cleared waivers. Gonzalez will stay in the Miami organization after he was cast off the 40-man roster Friday to open up a spot for outfielder Billy Hamilton, whose contract was selected from Jacksonville. Gonzalez was designated for assignment by the Marlins on Friday, Jordan McPherson of the Miami Herald reports. Gonzalez had his contract selected from Triple-A Jacksonville on Sunday and went 1-for-6 with a double and two strikeouts while appearing in three games before getting DFA'd. The move was made in conjunction with Joey Wendle (hamstring) being activated from the 10-day injured list and Billy Hamilton having his contract selected Friday. Gonzalez will either report to Jacksonville, get claimed by another team or be released outright, the first of which seems most likely.
