  • Green allowed two hits in a scoreless inning Sunday, striking out one and earning a save against the Cardinals. Green gave up a pair of singles but forced a Jordan Walker pop-out to close out the 3-2 win. Green made his first appearance since coughing up four runs in a loss against the Mets on Sept. 11. It was also his first converted save chance since Aug. 29 after blowing his previous three in September. Green owns a 3.42 ERA with a 44:14 K:BB through 50 innings.

  • Green blew the save Sunday against Atlanta, allowing one earned run on two hits and zero walks in one inning. He did not record a strikeout. Called upon in the ninth to protect a one-run lead, Green allowed back-to-back singles to open the inning before yielding a Matt Olson sacrifice fly to the tie game. Green managed to keep the score tied thanks to a timely double play, but the damage was already done. The 33-year-old has now blown saves in each of his last three appearances, allowing seven earned runs in 2.2 innings during that span. Even with that disastrous stretch, the veteran owns a respectable 2.85 ERA, 0.97 WHIP and 42:11 K:BB in 47.1 innings this season, converting 16 of 19 saves.

  • Green (4-5) blew the save and took the loss Tuesday as the Blue Jays fell 10-9 to the Phillies, coughing up three runs on three hits over two-thirds of an inning. He struck out two. Toronto held 6-1 and 8-4 leads earlier in the game, but Green completed the collapse by allowing three straight hits to begin the ninth inning, the last of which was a three-run homer by Kyle Schwarber. Green has served up a three-run blast in back-to-back appearances while blowing consecutive save chances, sending his ERA soaring from 1.61 to 2.72, but those were his first two blown saves of the season. The Jays don't have a clear alternative at closer unless Jordan Romano (elbow) is able to make it back in September, so Green should get a chance to work through his struggles.

  • Green (4-4) took the loss and blew a save Sunday against the Twins, allowing three runs on three hits while striking out a batter over one inning. Green entered with a 3-1 lead and blew his first save of the season. He retired the first batter he faced before allowing back-to-back singles and then surrendered a three-run homer to Royce Lewis to give the Twins their first lead of the game and eventually the win. Before Sunday's outing, Green was a perfect 16-for-16 in save opportunities, and he had gone five straight outings without giving up a run. The 33-year-old is still putting together one of the best seasons of his career, posting a 2.17 ERA, 0.90 WHIP and 40:11 K:BB in 45.2 innings.
