Toussaint cleared waivers Thursday and was sent outright to Triple-A Charlotte, Vinnie Duber of AllCHGO.com reports. Toussaint was dropped from Chicago's 40-man roster Tuesday after accumulating a 7.43 ERA and 2.30 WHIP across 23 innings with the big-league squad. He'll remain with the organization as minor-league bullpen depth, though his chances of making it back to the majors before the end of the year are slim.

The White Sox designated Toussaint for assignment Tuesday, LaMond Pope of the Chicago Tribune reports. Toussaint was touched up for four runs over 2.2 innings and 68 pitches in Monday's loss to the Orioles. He wasn't going to be available for at least a day or two, so the White Sox will replace him with a fresh relief arm.

The White Sox selected Toussaint's contract from Triple-A Charlotte on Monday. Toussaint was removed from the 40-man roster just before Opening Day but is back in the big leagues after delivering a 5.15 ERA and 49:39 K:BB over 50.2 innings in 17 appearances (eight starts) with Charlotte. He could make some starts and/or fill a long-relief role with Chicago.

The White Sox outrighted Toussaint to Triple-A Charlotte on Tuesday, Daryl Van Schouwen of the Chicago Sun-Times reports. Toussaint is no longer on the 40-man roster but will remain in the organization after clearing waivers. The right-hander will probably open the season in Charlotte's rotation.

The White Sox designated Toussaint for assignment Sunday. Toussaint's removal from the 40-man roster opens up a spot for outfielder Kevin Pillar, who was re-signed Sunday to a one-year deal. Perhaps more significantly, the roster move also opens up a spot in the rotation for rookie Nick Nastrini, who now looks in position to replace Toussaint as the White Sox's No. 5 starter to begin the season. Toussaint made bats miss at a solid clip upon joining the White Sox last June as a waiver-wire pickup from the Guardians, but command remained a concern for the right-hander, which has been a familiar refrain throughout his career. It was especially true during spring training, as Toussaint had posted a 12.91 ERA, 2.74 WHIP and an ugly 2:11 K:BB across 7.2 frames during Cactus League play.
