Tellez is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Guardians. The left-handed-hitting Tellez will remain absent from the starting nine for the second straight day to close out the season while the Guardians send another southpaw (Logan Allen) to the hill. Jake Burger will start at first base in Tellez's place.

Tellez will start at first base and bat cleanup in Thursday's contest versus the Twins. It's his fourth start over the last five games against right-handed pitching, as Tellez has overtaken Jake Burger as the Rangers' primary first baseman. Tellez has a .915 OPS with one home run over his last nine tilts.

Tellez hit a two-run homer in a pinch-hit appearance during Friday's extra-innings loss to the Marlins. The Texas slugger launched a titanic 425-foot, two-run blast off Miami reliever Michael Petersen in the 10th to tie the game at 3-3. Tellez has fallen out of an everyday role in Texas, as Jake Burger has overtaken the starting role at first base. Through 43 total games with Rangers, Tellez is now batting .270 (27-for-100) with five homers, 17 RBI and 12 runs scored since joining the club in mid-July.

Tellez went 1-for-1 with a ground-rule double and an RBI in Saturday's 3-2 win over the Mets. Tellez entered as a pinch hitter in the top of the ninth inning and belted a two-out, ground-rule double to produce the go-ahead run and complete Texas' comeback. Since Jake Burger's return in early September, Tellez's regular gig at first base has disappeared. Saturday's appearance was his fifth straight as a pinch hitter.

Tellez is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Astros. He will hit the bench for the fourth game in a row, with two of his absences coming against left-handers and two coming against right-handers. Tellez had been occupying the strong side of a platoon at first base, but Jake Burger, who was reinstated from the injured list Monday, appears to have overtaken him as the Rangers' top choice at the position. Tellez initially found some success after being promoted from Triple-A Round Rock on July 18, but over his last 10 games, he's gone just 4-for-26 with no walks and 10 strikeouts.
