  Boyd (6-1) picked up the win Saturday, allowing one run on three hits and one walk over six innings in a 6-2 victory over the Twins. He struck out four. The veteran southpaw won his fourth straight start and picked up his sixth straight winning decision since he took the loss Opening Day against the Nationals. Since returning from knee and shoulder issues in late June, Boyd has produced a 2.57 ERA, 1.14 WHIP and 20:8 K:BB over five outings and 28 innings. He'll look to keep rolling in his next start, which lines up to come on the road next weekend in Pittsburgh.

  Boyd (5-1) earned the win Sunday against the Reds, allowing four runs on six hits and a walk across 6.1 innings. He struck out three. All four of the runs charged to Boyd came in the third inning, capped by a Eugenio Suarez two-run homer with two outs. However, the Cubs would rally for four runs of their own in the seventh, giving Boyd his third straight win. Since returning from the IL in late June, the left-hander has pitched to a 2.08 ERA in four starts (22 innings). Overall, his ERA sits at 4.50 with a 1.28 WHIP and 47:13 K:BB across nine outings (46 innings).

  Boyd (4-1) picked up the win in Tuesday's 5-2 victory over the Orioles, allowing three hits and two walks over six scoreless innings. He struck out seven. The veteran southpaw delivered his second quality start of the season on an impressive 93 pitches (64 strikes), but Ryan Rolison coughed up the combined shutout in the seventh inning. Boyd has looked good since returning from the injured list in late June, and over three trips to the mound he's posted a 1.72 ERA, 1.34 WHIP and 13:6 K:BB in 15.2 innings. He'll look to keep rolling in his next outing, which lines up to come Sunday in Cincinnati in the Cubs' final game before the All-Star break.

  Boyd (3-1) earned the win over San Diego on Tuesday, allowing three runs on eight hits and no walks while striking out two batters over five-plus innings. Boyd made just his second appearance since returning from a lengthy absence due to injuries to his knee and shoulder, and he was limited to 76 pitches for a second straight start. That was enough to get him through five-plus innings, however, and consequently allowed him to get his third victory of the campaign. The left-hander was knocked for two long balls and departed having allowed two runners to reach base without recording an out in the sixth, but Javier Assad was able to get out of the jam without letting either inherited runner score. Boyd has been fairly effective so far since coming off the IL, yielding three runs across 9.2 frames with a 6:4 K:BB across his two starts. He's lined up to next face the Orioles in Baltimore.

  Boyd allowed four hits and issued four walks while striking out four batters over 4.2 scoreless innings during a no-decision against the Mets on Thursday. Boyd made his return after missing over seven weeks due to a knee injury and subsequent shoulder issue. The lefty kept New York off the scoreboard, though he struggled with his control, throwing just 46 of 76 pitches for strikes and issuing four free passes. Boyd did, however, get a hearty 14 whiffs and recorded big outs when needed, twice stranding a runner on third base. He was understandably on a limited pitch count following the lengthy absence and may need a couple more outings before he's ready for a full workload. The veteran hurler's next start is tentatively slated to be against the Padres in Chicago.
