Tucker rejected the Cubs' one-year, $22.025 million qualifying offer Tuesday, Alden Gonzalez of ESPN.com reports. Tucker is viewed as the biggest free-agent fish this offseason, so his rejection of the qualifying offer was a forgone conclusion. Assuming he leaves the Cubs in free agency -- which is expected -- Chicago will net a draft pick as compensation.

The Cubs extended Tucker a one-year, $22.05 million qualifying offer Thursday, Jeff Passan of ESPN.com reports. As the marquee free agent this offseason, Tucker will decline the offer. If he leaves the Cubs -- which is expected -- Chicago will receive a draft pick as compensation. Tucker played through a hairline fracture in his hand and also missed time with a calf injury in 2025, but he still slashed .266/.377/.464 with 22 home runs, 25 stolen bases and an 87:88 BB:K over 136 regular-season contests.

The Cubs activated Tucker (calf) from the 10-day injured list Friday. Tucker has finally been cleared to return to action after missing most of September with a strained left calf. He will start in the designated hitter spot and bat cleanup during Friday's series opener against the Cardinals. Tucker could see regular starts at DH this weekend and during next week's National League Wild Card Series as the Cubs look to protect his calf.

Tucker (calf) will be activated from the 10-day injured list and included in the lineup for Friday's game against the Cardinals, Jesse Rogers of ESPN.com reports. Tucker has been cleared to return after missing the last three-plus weeks with a left calf strain. It's not clear whether he will play the outfield or be used at designated hitter, but either way the Cubs will be happy to get Tucker's bat back into their lineup.

Cubs manager Craig Counsell said Wednesday that Tucker (calf) is "trending toward" returning to the lineup this weekend against the Cardinals, 670 The Score reports. Tucker's recovery from a left calf strain has come slowly, but he's made progress this week and it sounds like he's likely to be activated from the 10-day injured list before the regular season concludes. The Cubs could use him at designated hitter in order to protect his calf, which would mean playing Seiya Suzuki in right field. Tucker has missed nearly all of September with the injury.
