Jansen went 1-for-2 with a solo home run and a walk in Thursday's 2-1 loss to the Yankees. Jansen accounted for Boston's only run Thursday with a solo homer off Nestor Cortes in the fifth inning. It was his ninth home run of the season and third since joining the Red Sox late in July. Playing time has been hard to come by for Jansen, as he's played behind Connor Wong at catcher and has just 59 at-bats in the Boston's 45 games since the trade.

Jansen will be the catcher Monday when the continuation of a suspended game between the Red Sox and Blue Jays resumes, Ian Browne of MLB.com reports. The two teams will continue a game that was suspended June 27. If the continuation goes off as planned, Jansen will become the first player in MLB history to appear in the same game for both teams. Jansen, who was traded from Toronto to Boston on July 27, was at the plate for the Blue Jays with one out and an 0-1 count in the top of the second inning when play was halted. The game will be part of a day-night doubleheader.

Jansen went 1-for-4 with a solo home run in Wednesday's 8-4 loss to the Royals. Jansen has gone 6-for-14 over four contests since he was acquired via trade from the Blue Jays. The catcher has settled into a backup role behind Connor Wong, though Wong can also play first base to give Jansen a path to some at-bats. For the year, Jansen is hitting .226 with a .702 OPS, seven homers, 20 RBI, 28 runs scored, 13 doubles and no stolen bases over 65 games.

Jansen started at catcher and went 2-for-4 with an RBI in Wednesday's 3-2 extra-inning win over the Mariners. Jansen delivered a game-tying run with a sixth-inning single, which eventually led to the extra frame. He's made two starts (one at DH) since being acquired from the Blue Jays and his 4-for-7 for his new team. Connor Wong remains the starter at catcher, while Jansen is expected to see steady dose of work against lefties.

Jansen started at designated hitter and went 2-for-3 with a walk in Sunday's 8-2 loss to the Yankees. Jansen, who was acquired from the Blue Jays on Saturday, made his debut for Boston. The catcher served as the DH and gives the Red Sox a needed right-handed bat that can harm lefties, against whom Jansen has a .718 OPS this season. He replaced Reese McGuire (.533 OPS against lefties), who was designated for assignment, as the Red Sox's backup to catcher Connor Wong.
