  Scott was charged with a blown save in Friday's 8-5 extra-inning win over the Tigers, giving up a run on three hits in an inning of work. Called in to protect a 3-2 lead in the top of the ninth inning, Scott gave up an RBI single to Manuel Margot with two outs to tie the score, and then nearly served up a game-winning double to Riley Greene, only for Margot to stumble coming around third and get thrown out at the plate on a play that required video review. Scott has been handed two of the Dodgers' first four save chances of the season, with Blake Treinen getting Thursday's opportunity after Alex Vesia closed out Game 2 of the Tokyo Series.

  Scott struck out one and didn't allow a baserunner in a scoreless ninth inning to record the save versus the Cubs in Tokyo on Tuesday. After signing a four-year, $72 million contract with the Dodgers during the offseason, it's fitting that Scott received and converted the first save opportunity of 2025. The left-hander worked quickly against the heart of Chicago's lineup, throwing eight of 10 pitches for strikes. Scott is expected to be Los Angeles' lead option for the ninth inning, but he could still have some saves vultured since manager Dave Roberts also has Kirby Yates, Blake Treinen and, eventually, Michael Kopech (elbow) at his disposal.

  Dodgers manager Dave Roberts said Sunday that Scott will see the bulk of the save chances to begin the season, Jim Bowden of The Athletic reports. GM Brandon Gomes said after Scott signed in January that the left-hander won't be Los Angeles' set closer, but it appears Roberts still envisions Scott as the lead option for the ninth inning. Despite Scott's four-year, $72 million contract, it could be a fluid situation throughout the season with the Dodgers also having Kirby Yates, Michael Kopech (forearm) and Blake Treinen in the high-leverage mix.

  Dodgers general manager Brandon Gomes said Thursday that while he anticipates Scott receiving plenty of save chances, he will not be the team's set closer, Fabian Ardaya of The Athletic reports. Scott might very well be the favorite to nab the most saves for the Dodgers after inking a four-year, $72 million contract, but the team plans to play matchups in the late innings rather than have a dedicated closer. In addition to Scott, Kirby Yates, Blake Treinen and Michael Kopech (forearm) also figure to be in the mix for save opportunities.

  Scott agreed to a four-year, $72 million contract with the Dodgers on Sunday, Mark Feinsand of MLB.com reports. Shortly after landing coveted Japanese starter Roki Sasaki, Los Angeles has now also secured the top closer on the market. Scott recorded 22 saves and 11 holds between the Marlins and Padres during the 2024 regular season and finished with a 1.75 ERA, 1.13 WHIP and 84:26 K:BB across 72 innings. The left-hander should open 2025 as the favorite for saves on the best team in baseball, but righty Michael Kopech could also be in the mix.
