  • France (oblique) is on the Blue Jays' World Series roster. France has been sidelined since the last week of the regular season with a left oblique strain, but he's recovered from that injury and the Blue Jays have elected to include him on their roster for the Fall Classic. The 31-year-old is likely to be used in a reserve role.

The Blue Jays placed France on the 10-day injured list Tuesday with left oblique inflammation. France's injury will force him to miss the remainder of the regular season, though he will be eligible to return before the start of the ALDS. His move to the IL will clear a roster spot for Anthony Santander (shoulder), who was activated from the 60-day IL in a corresponding move.

  • France launched a solo home run as a pinch hitter during Wednesday's win over the Twins. The 31-year-old first baseman got some revenge against the team that shipped him out at the trade deadline, coming off the bench to loft a Genesis Cabrera splitter over the left-field wall in the eighth inning. It was France's seventh homer of the season and his first as a Blue Jay, and through 71 plate appearances with Toronto he's slashing .286/.352/.413 with five doubles, six RBI and eight runs.

    By RotoWire

France is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Twins. France went 4-for-23 at the plate while starting in each of the Blue Jays' last seven games, but he'll head back to the bench Wednesday and is likely to see his playing time get scaled back moving forward. Five of those starts came while Vladimir Guerrero was out of the lineup due to a hamstring injury, but he served as the Blue Jays' designated hitter in the previous two contests and will return to his usual home at first base Wednesday.
