Allen signed a minor-league contract with the Mets on Tuesday that includes an invitation to spring training, Tim Britton of The Athletic reports. Allen's 2023 season was spent at Triple-A Jacksonville in the Marlins organization, where he posted an .802 OPS with 23 homers in 91 games. The 30-year-old has seen spot action in the majors over parts of four seasons, collecting a .540 OPS across 127 plate appearances.

The Marlins reassigned Allen to minor-league camp Wednesday, Christina De Nicola of MLB.com reports. Allen joined the Marlins as a non-roster invitee in spring training and appeared in 12 games, batting .217 with one homer, five RBI and two runs scored over 23 at-bats. The 29-year-old has played in 23 total major-league contests in the last three seasons and seems unlikely to make much of an impact with the Marlins in 2023.

Allen signed a minor-league contract with the Marlins on Thursday. Allen appeared in four big-league games early in 2022 for Oakland but spent the rest of the campaign at Triple-A, and he was traded to the Cardinals in August. He had a 287/.365/.472 slash line with seven home runs and 40 RBI in 55 games between the two organizations.

Allen was traded from Oakland to St. Louis on Tuesday in exchange for Carlos Guarate. Allen owns a career .195/.252/.288 slash line in 57 career major-league games, five of which came this year. He'll likely serve as organizational depth for his new team.

Allen cleared waivers and was outrighted to Triple-A Las Vegas on Wednesday. Allen was designated for assignment by the A's earlier this week and will remain in the organization after passing through waivers unclaimed. He appeared in five big-league games this season and went 1-for-14 with a walk, a run and nine strikeouts.
