The Cubs signed Kingery to a minor-league contract with an invitation to spring training Tuesday, Maddie Lee of the Chicago Sun-Times reports. Kingery resurfaced in the majors in 2025 with the Angels for the first time since the 2022 season, but he went just 4-for-27 with 11 strikeouts at the plate. The 31-year-old will compete for a utility job in spring training but is a good bet to begin the season at Triple-A Iowa.
