Tovar (triceps) will start at shortstop and bat second in Friday's Cactus League game versus the Rangers. Tovar was removed from Wednesday's contest against the Padres after being hit on the left triceps by a pitch, but he's fine and back out there after a day of rest. The young shortstop is 4-for-17 with three doubles at the dish so far this spring.

Tovar left Wednesday's spring game against the Padres due to a left triceps contusion, Patrick Saunders of The Denver Post reports. Tovar had his left arm hit by a pitch from Michael King in the first inning and was replaced by Owen Miller in the third frame. Tovar's removal likely precautionary, and it wouldn't be surprising if he returns to action after Thursdays team off day. The 23-year-old shortstop is coming off a strong 2024 season in which he slashed .269/.295/.469 with 26 home runs and 78 RBI across 694 plate appearances.

Tovar went 3-for-4 with a solo homer in Saturday's loss to the Dodgers. Tovar singled in his first trip to the plate before launching a 429-foot solo homer in the bottom of the third inning. The shortstop went on to reach base three times in the contest, tallying at least three hits for the 16th time this season. Tovar has also posted multiple knocks and at least one RBI in each of his last three games, while the long ball was his 26th on the campaign.

Tovar went 2-for-5 with a double, two RBI and a run scored Thursday against the Cardinals. Tovar has put together a productive close to the season, with Thursday's performance marking his fifth multi-RBI performance in his last 14 games. He's also struck out multiple times in seven of those contests, inflating his strikeout rate to 29.2 percent on the season. That swing and miss has been covered up by a .344 BABIP, something that may not continue into 2025 even with the benefit of Coors Field as his home park.

Tovar went 3-for-5 with a solo home run, an additional RBI and an additional run scored in Tuesday's 8-2 win over the Diamondbacks. Tovar supplied a solo shot in the third inning and an RBI single in the sixth. The shortstop has homered three times over his last five games, going 6-for-22 (.273) in that span. This is his first 25-homer campaign, and he's added a .266/.293/.469 slash line with 70 RBI, 80 runs scored and six stolen bases over 147 contests.
