  • Pfaadt (9-9) took the loss Saturday versus the Brewers, allowing eight runs on seven hits and three walks while failing to record a strikeout over 1.2 innings. Pfaadt was on the hook for a seven-run second inning that was capped off by Willy Adames' grand slam. This was the fifth time in six starts that Pfaadt has given up at least four runs, though this was by far the shortest outing of the season for the 25-year-old. His ERA ballooned from 4.42 to 4.81, and he's added a 1.27 WHIP and 160:39 K:BB through 166.2 innings over 29 starts. He's nearly at his career high for innings, which is 167 across all levels in 2022, and it appears he's wearing down a bit toward the end of the campaign. He's tentatively projected to make his next start in a rematch at Milwaukee.

  • Pfaadt (8-7) took the loss Tuesday against the Mets, allowing eight runs (six earned) on eight hits and a walk while striking out six over 4.2 innings. Pfaadt allowed two runs in the second inning, including a leadoff solo home run to Pete Alonso, and things completely imploded in the fifth. The Mets began the inning by reeling off five straight hits against Pfaadt, leading to three more runs before he was eventually pulled with the bases loaded. Jordan Montgomery, who was recently demoted to the bullpen, came in and allowed another three runs before finally getting out of the frame. Tuesday's loss was Pfaadt's first since June 19 despite him having a 6.29 ERA over his last six starts. For the year, he owns a 4.31 ERA, 1.17 WHIP and 145:32 K:BB in 154.2 innings. Pfaadt lines up to face the Dodgers at home this weekend.

  • Pfaadt (7-6) earned the win over Colorado on Monday, allowing four runs on eight hits and no walks while striking out 11 batters over seven innings. Pfaadt's control was on point in the victory, as he threw 73 of 94 pitches for strikes and didn't walk any batters. The right-hander also induced 19 swings-and-misses en route to 11 strikeouts, matching the career-best mark he previously set against Seattle on April 28. Pfaadt hasn't taken a loss in nine straight starts, and he's posted a 3.33 ERA along with a 51:7 K:BB over 54 frames during that span.

  • Pfaadt (5-6) picked up the win over the Pirates on Saturday, allowing five runs on seven hits over six innings while striking out four. Pfaadt surrendered a solo home run to Oneil Cruz in the top of the first before going 1-2-3 through the next three innings. The right-hander would then struggle his way through the fifth, allowing three consecutive hits to open the frame, leading to three more runs coming home for Pittsburgh. Still, Pfaadt was able to come away with his fifth win of the campaign and the second in his last three starts despite the lackluster outing. He's now gone at least six innings in each of his last three starts and in six of his last seven overall. Saturday also marked the first time in his last five outings that he surrendered more than one run.

  • Pfaadt allowed a hit and a walk over seven scoreless innings in a no-decision against the Cubs on Sunday. He struck out seven in the extra-innings loss. Pfaadt was dominant, as the only hit the Cubs could muster against him was an infield single. However, Shota Imanaga dealt seven innings of one-run ball with 10 punchouts, which prevented Pfaadt from stringing together consecutive wins. Pfaadt forced 13 swinging strikes and allowed only one runner to reach scoring position. Over his last four outings, he's given up just two runs over 23.1 innings, lowering his season ERA to 3.74 over 20 starts. Pfaadt's next outing is lined up to be at home against the Pirates.
