Garrett (7-4) took the loss Thursday against the A's, allowing two runs on three hits and a walk in one inning. He struck out one. Garrett entered the game in the sixth inning with the Mets ahead 6-5. He promptly allowed a single and a double to lead off the frame, allowing Oakland to tie the game on a fielder's choice, before Seth Brown put the A's ahead 7-6 with a one-out single. It was a tough outing for the 31-year-old Garrett in just his second appearance following a month-long IL stint. The right-hander now sports a 3.89 ERA with a 1.45 WHIP and 67:23 K:BB through 44 innings this season while logging four saves and eight holds.

The Mets activated Garrett (elbow) from the 15-day injured list Saturday, Mike Puma of the New York Post reports. Garrett has been out of major-league action since July 10 due to inflammation in his right elbow. In his last rehab outing with Triple-A Syracuse on Thursday, he allowed one hit and one walk while striking out three in one inning. Before landing on the IL, Garrett recorded eight holds and four saves across 36 major-league outings with a 3.64 ERA and 1.43 WHIP across 42 innings. To make room on the 26-man roster for Garrett, the Mets optioned Alex Young to Syracuse.

Garrett (elbow) allowed one hit and one walk but struck out three over a scoreless inning in his first rehab appearance with Triple-A Syracuse on Tuesday. Garrett has been shelved for the past four weeks with right elbow inflammation but shouldn't need many, if any, more rehab outings before being activated from the 15-day injured list. The righty reliever has contributed a 3.64 ERA and 63:22 K:BB across 42 frames out of the Mets' bullpen in 2024.

Garrett (elbow) began a throwing progression Saturday, Tim Healey of Newsday reports. Garrett landed on the 15-day injured list July 10 due to right elbow inflammation, and Saturday marks the first time he has done any sort of throwing since then. The 31-year-old said he's hoping for a quick ramp-up process, though it remains unclear if he'll be able to pitch again before the end of July.

Garrett earned the save in Monday's 9-7 win over the Nationals. He faced two batters, allowing one hit and striking out one. With Edwin Diaz still out due to suspension, Garrett entered with a three-run lead and two outs in the 10th inning. The previous reliever, Tyler Jay, left runners on first and second to clean up. After allowing a run-scoring single to Keibert Ruiz, Garrett punched out Luis Garcia to bring New York back to .500. Diaz is eligible to return from suspension July 6, but until that time, Garrett looks to be the favorite for saves in the Mets' bullpen.
