Schanuel is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Astros. Schanuel recently returned from a wrist injury, and though the Angels haven't indicated that he suffered an aggravation of the issue, he'll be held out of the lineup for a second straight game to close out the season. Carter Kieboom will fill in for Schanuel at first base.

Schanuel went 1-for-5 with a solo home run in Saturday's 3-0 win over the Rockies. This was Schanuel's second game back from a bruised left wrist that landed him on the injured list in late August. He's gone 3-for-9 with two extra-base hits since his return, so it looks like he's fully healthy for the final week of the season. He's produced a .268/.355/.391 slash line with 11 homers, 52 RBI, 63 runs scored and five stolen bases over 127 contests in his second full campaign.

Schanuel (wrist) is hoping to be activated from the 10-day injured list next week during the Angels' road trip, Jeff Fletcher of The Orange County Register reports. Schanuel will travel to the Angels' spring training complex in Arizona on Wednesday to ramp up his baseball activities. If that goes well, it appears he might skip a rehab assignment and rejoin the Angels' active roster sometime next week. Schanuel has been sidelined for nearly three weeks due to a bone bruise on his left wrist.

Schanuel is still feeling soreness in his hand area, delaying his anticipated return from the injured list. There's no clear timeline for him to be activated, but he's eligible to be reinstated at any time since he's already spent the 10-day minimum on the shelf.
