• Angels' Jose Suarez: Fans five in no-decision

  Suarez allowed three runs on five hits and two walks while striking out five batters over five innings in a no-decision against the White Sox on Wednesday. All of Chicago's runs against Suarez came via the long ball -- the left-hander gave up a two-run shot to Korey Lee in the second inning and a solo blast to Lenyn Sosa in the fourth. It was the only time this season Suarez gave up multiple homers in an outing. That's partly due to the fact that he spent much of the campaign as a reliever, though he came into Wednesday having yielded just two long balls over his past 36 frames. Suarez returned Sept. 9 from an extended stay on the injured list and had held his opponents without an earned run over 13 frames prior to giving up Lee's second-inning blast Wednesday.

• Angels' Jose Suarez: Drawing another start

  Suarez is scheduled to start Wednesday's game against the White Sox in Chicago. Suarez joined the rotation last week following the demotion of Caden Dana to Double-A Rocket City and the placement of Samuel Aldegheri (finger) on the injured list. While making his second start of the season last Thursday in Houston, Suarez took a no-decision while striking out five and holding the Astros to one unearned run on three hits and two walks. He could make for an attractive stream option during the final week of the season as he faces a hapless White Sox squad that has already lost 120 games.

  Suarez did not factor into the decision in a loss to the Astros on Thursday, allowing one unearned run on three hits and two walks over five innings. He struck out five. Suarez allowed just two walks and a single over the first three frames before Yainer Diaz reached on a fielding error to open the fourth. The veteran lefty would then see a run come home after surrendering back-to-back singles, but he was able to retire the next six batters in succession to complete five innings for the first time on the campaign. Suarez looked solid in his second start this season and he's now recorded five strikeouts in back-to-back appearances. He'll look to secure his second win of the season next week when the Angels travel to Chicago to take on the White Sox.

• Angels' Jose Suarez: Getting start Thursday

  Suarez is scheduled to start Thursday's game against the Astros, Matt Kawahara of the Houston Chronicle reports. As expected, Suarez will be moving from the bullpen to take over the rotation spot that opened up after the Angels demoted Caden Dana to Double-A Rocket City and placed Samuel Aldegheri (finger) on the injured list. Suarez has made just one other start with the Angels this season, which came back on June 11 versus the Diamondbacks. He failed to escape the third inning in that outing and was charged with four earned runs on six hits and one walk.

• Angels' Jose Suarez: Shifting to rotation

  Suarez will move into the Angels' starting rotation after Sam Aldegheri (finger) was placed on the 15-day injured list Sunday, Jeff Fletcher of The Orange County Register reports. The left-hander had his contract selected by the Angels on Sept. 9 and had made two appearances out of the bullpen. He's on the same pitching schedule as Aldegheri, as Suarez struck out five over four scoreless innings of relief in Friday's loss to Houston after the former lasted just two innings. Suarez owns a 6.80 ERA, 1.70 WHIP and 46:23 K:BB in 42.1 innings over 20 appearances (one start) with the big club this season.
