Suarez will move into the Angels' starting rotation after Sam Aldegheri (finger) was placed on the 15-day injured list Sunday, Jeff Fletcher of The Orange County Register reports. The left-hander had his contract selected by the Angels on Sept. 9 and had made two appearances out of the bullpen. He's on the same pitching schedule as Aldegheri, as Suarez struck out five over four scoreless innings of relief in Friday's loss to Houston after the former lasted just two innings. Suarez owns a 6.80 ERA, 1.70 WHIP and 46:23 K:BB in 42.1 innings over 20 appearances (one start) with the big club this season.

Suarez earned a save against the Twins on Monday, walking one batter and striking out four in three hitless and scoreless innings. Suarez returned to the big-league club Monday after spending over two months in the minors. The left-hander tossed 48 pitches (28 of which were strikes) against Minnesota, allowing just one baserunner in an impressive outing. Suarez has experience as both a starter and a reliever in the majors, and it seems likely that he'll function in a long-relief role down the stretch if he remains on Los Angeles' roster.

The Angels selected Suarez's contract from Triple-A Salt Lake on Monday. Suarez was removed from the 40-man roster back in June but has made his way back to the majors after posting a 6.54 ERA and 62:17 K:BB over 52.1 innings covering 11 starts. The left-hander will likely operate in a long-relief role.

The Angels outrighted Suarez to Triple-A Salt Lake on Monday. Suarez passed through waivers unclaimed and will remain in the organization. The left-hander held an 8.15 ERA over 18 appearances (one start) this season before being removed from the 40-man roster. The Angels could have Suarez get stretched back out as a starter at Salt Lake as they look to get him back on track.

The Angels designated Suarez for assignment Monday. Suarez looked like he was going to be a solid mid-rotation starter for the Angels when he posted a 3.86 ERA and 188:69 K:BB over 207.1 innings between the 2021 and 2022 seasons. He's struggled mightily at the big-league level ever since, however, posting an 8.22 ERA over 29 appearances (eight starts). He also missed a large chunk of the 2023 season with shoulder problems. Still, as a 26-year-old that's shown promise in the past, another organization could take another chance at Suarez via trade or waiver claim.
