Chivilli (1-2) allowed one earned run on one hit and no walks while striking out one to take the loss and blow the save Tuesday against the Marlins. Chivilli entered the game in the ninth inning with runners on second and third and the Rockies holding onto a two-run lead. Tyler Kinley began the frame and imploded to allow four earned runs, but Chivilli still had the chance to close the door on the win. Instead, he served up a three-run home run to Jesus Sanchez. Since being recalled to the majors Aug. 1, Chivilli has maintained a 2.77 ERA and 1.15 WHIP with an 11:3 K:BB across 13 frames and has quickly found himself in a high-leverage role.

Chivilli earned the save Tuesday, allowing one hit and one walk while striking out one over a scoreless ninth inning. Chivilli was summoned to protect a 3-1 lead in the ninth frame and earned his first major-league save on 19 pitches. While it appeared to be a surprising move, Thomas Harding of MLB.com later reported that primary closer Victor Vodnik was experiencing shoulder soreness Tuesday. The rookie owns 4.70 ERA, 1.37 WHIP and 10:3 K:BB across 15.1 innings and could see more save chances depending on the severity of Vodnik's injury.

The Rockies recalled Chivilli from Triple-A Albuquerque on Tuesday. With the Rockies dealing Nick Mears and Jalen Beeks at the trade deadline, Chivilli will join the 26-man roster for the second time in his career. The 21-year-old made five appearances with Colorado in June, surrendering three home runs in 5.1 innings en route to an 8.44 ERA.

The Rockies optioned Chivilli to Double-A Hartford on Sunday. Chivilli was moved off the 26-man active roster to clear a spot for right-hander German Marquez (elbow), who was activated from the 60-day injured list ahead of his scheduled start Sunday versus the Mets. After being called up from Double-A on Saturday, Chivilli went unused out of the bullpen in the Rockies' 7-3 loss in the second game of the series.

The Rockies recalled Chivilli from Double-A Hartford on Saturday, Patrick Saunders of The Denver Post reports. Chivilli got his first major-league opportunity in June but struggled to an 8.44 ERA and 1.50 WHIP over 5.1 innings. He served up three long balls and struck out only two batters, though he didn't walk anybody. Chivilli has enjoyed success at Double-A this season with a 2.49 ERA, 1.31 WHIP and 37:12 K:BB across 25.1 frames. He'll likely serve in a low-leverage bullpen role while with the big club.
