  Irvin allowed four runs on six hits and a walk across six innings in a no-decision Saturday versus the White Sox. He struck out six. All of the damage against Irvin came via a pair of two-run home runs in the fourth inning -- Irvin's given up 38 homers this season, the most in the majors. After going 7-5 with a 4.58 ERA in the first half of the season, Irvin went just 2-8 while struggling to a 7.73 ERA across 13 starts (64 innings) following the All-Star break. Overall, he'll finish the year with a 5.70 ERA, 1.43 WHIP and 124 strikeouts across 33 starts (180 innings).

  Irvin (9-13) earned the win against the Mets on Sunday, allowing two runs on six hits and two walks while striking out five across 5.1 innings. Irvin entered Sunday's game having lost eight of his last nine starts with a 9.00 ERA and 1.86 WHIP across 42 innings. He was supplied with a three-run lead early and was working on his first quality start since July 27 against the Twins before being pulled in the sixth inning. Irvin struggled with his command, landing just 39 of 69 pitches for strikes and generating six whiffs while failing to escape the third inning in his shortest outing of the year. The rough night continued a miserable August for the 28-year-old, who's gone 0-4 with a 9.55 ERA over five starts.   Irvin (8-8) took the loss Tuesday against the Mets, allowing six runs on eight hits and three walks across six innings. He struck out three. Irvin was hit hard by the Mets, yielding four extra-base hits, including a two-run home run to Mark Vientos and a solo home run to Brett Baty. Irvin has now surrendered a total of seven long balls in his last five starts. He has performed especially poorly in his last four outings, tallying a 9.31 ERA and 2.07 WHIP across 19.1 innings. His next start is tentatively scheduled for Sunday in Philadelphia.

Irvin allowed two of those runs in the first inning, and he was done for the game after Casey Schmitt's two-run home run in the sixth. Irvin has allowed at least four runs in five of his last eight starts, and he's given up 10 homers in that span. For the season, the right-hander has a mediocre 4.90 ERA, 1.34 WHIP and 91:43 K:BB through 136 innings over 24 starts. He's projected to make his next start on the road versus the Royals.
