Olson (shoulder) did not factor into the decision in Monday's 7-6 win over the Royals, allowing four runs on four hits and one walk with three strikeouts over 2.1 innings. Olson retired the first six batters he faced but hit a wall in the third, loading the bases and surrendering a grand slam to Bobby Witt. The 25-year-old threw 29 of 50 pitches for strikes and was on a limited workload after missing nearly two months with a shoulder injury. On the season, he owns a 3.50 ERA, 1.21 WHIP and 95:32 K:BB across 105.1 innings and lines up for a road matchup with the Orioles this weekend.

The Tigers activated Olson (shoulder) from the 15-day injured list Monday, Chris McCosky of The Detroit News reports. Olson is set to rejoin the rotation Monday versus the Royals after missing nearly two months with a right shoulder strain. The right-hander went just three innings and threw 45 pitches in his last rehab start, so he will be pretty limited Monday from a workload perspective.

Olson (shoulder) is trending towards a return early next week in Kansas City, Chris McCosky of The Detroit News reports. McCosky hints than an announcement will come Saturday, and given that Tarik Skubal has been confirmed to start Wednesday, that leaves Monday or Tuesday as potential dates for Olson to make his return to the rotation. He struck out five across three scoreless frames in his rehab start Tuesday for Triple-A Toledo.

Tigers manager A.J. Hinch said Olson (shoulder) will rejoin the major-league club to be evaluated after a successful rehab start Tuesday with Triple-A Toledo, Evan Woodbery of MLive.com reports. The right-hander threw 45 pitches across three scoreless innings Tuesday, which is only a minor increase from the 39 pitches and two innings he tossed during his first rehab outing Sept. 5. Hinch mentioned the possibility of a third rehab start, but the next steps in Olson's rehab won't be determined until he's checked out back with the big club.

Olson (shoulder) allowed one hit and one walk while striking out one across two scoreless innings in a rehab outing with Triple-A Toledo on Thursday. Olson pitched in his first game since landing on the injured list July 21 and tossed 39 pitches, 24 of which went for strikes. He averaged 94 miles per hour on his fastball -- in line with his norms for the season -- and threw all of his pitches. Olson will still require a couple more rehab outings, but a return from the IL in late September appears realistic.
