Vladimir Guerrero Jr. 1B | TOR
Blue Jays' Vladimir Guerrero: Stays hot with 25th homer
Guerrero went 3-for-5 with a double, a homer and three RBI in Wednesday's win over the Angels.
Guerrero drove home Daulton Varsho with a single in the top of the third and later added a two-run homer in the ninth, marking the second game in a row in which he's gone deep. The first baseman has also registered multiple hits in four of his last seven contests and is now batting .426 in August with four homers, 10 RBI and 10 runs scored.

Ben Rice 1B | NYY
Yankees' Ben Rice: Sitting Wednesday
Rice is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the White Sox.
After going 0-for-5 with a strikeout through the first two games of the series, Rice will get a day off during Wednesday's series finale. DJ LeMahieu will step in to cover first base while batting ninth.

Triston Casas 1B | BOS
Red Sox's Triston Casas: Unlikely to be back Thursday
Red Sox manager Alex Cora said Wednesday that he does not anticipate Casas (ribs) being activated from the 60-day injured Thursday for the start of their series in Baltimore, Gabrielle Starr of the Boston Herald reports.
Casas had previously been ruled out through the end of the team's homestand and he won't be back for the start of its road trip, either. The first baseman seems poised to return from the IL any day now, but a precise date has been difficult to nail down. Casas has been shelved since late April with a cartilage tear in his left ribcage and has gone 8-for-30 with a 10:5 K:BB in eight rehab games with Triple-A Worcester.

Tyler Soderstrom C | ATH
Athletics' Tyler Soderstrom: Begins strengthening program
Soderstrom (wrist) began a strengthening program Monday, MLB.com reports.
The rookie has yet to resume baseball activities and is without a timetable for return. Given Soderstrom is still taking relatively modest steps in his recovery, a return prior to the end of August seems unlikely.

Blue Jays' Vladimir Guerrero: Lifts 24th homer
Guerrero went 1-for-5 with a solo home run in Tuesday's 6-1 win over the Angels.
Guerrero's massive 22-game hit streak ended Sunday in Toronto's series finale versus Oakland. He's bounced right back, going 3-for-9 with a homer and a double over two games versus the Angels to stay hot at the plate. The slugger is up to 24 homers, 77 RBI, 71 runs scored, 31 doubles, two stolen bases and a .320/.391/.548 slash line through 119 contests this season.

Zach Dezenzo SS | HOU
Astros' Zach Dezenzo: Idle again
Dezenzo is out of the lineup for Tuesday's game against the Rays, Brian McTaggart of MLB.com reports.
Dezenzo will be on the bench for a second consecutive game as the Astros turn to Yainer Diaz at first base for the first time this season. Since being called up Aug. 6, Dezenzo has a .702 OPS in 22 plate appearances.

Ben Rice 1B | NYY
Yankees' Ben Rice: Idle vs. lefty
Rice is not in the starting lineup for Monday's series opener against the White Sox.
With White Sox southpaw Ky Bush taking the mound Monday, the lefty-hitting Rice will sit for the fifth time in the past six games. DJ LeMahieu will start at first base and bat ninth.

Zach Dezenzo SS | HOU
Astros' Zach Dezenzo: On bench Monday
Dezenzo is out of the lineup for Monday's game against the Rays.
For the first time since getting his first big-league call-up last Tuesday, Dezenzo will hit the bench. He had started at first base or designated hitter in each of the previous five contests, going 5-for-21 with a solo home run, a double and a walk. The Astros are expected to continue giving Dezenzo a look in a near-everyday role, but he'll need to keep hitting to build up some job security.

Anthony Rizzo 1B | NYY
Yankees' Anthony Rizzo: 'Full bore,' but lacks timeline
Yankees manager Aaron Boone said Tuesday that Rizzo (forearm) recently hit "full bore" off a Trajekt pitching machine, Gary Phillips of the New York Daily News reports.
Rizzo has resumed taking batting practice in recent days, but despite seemingly making good progress in his recovery from a fractured right forearm, the Yankees aren't yet willing to offer up a timeline for his return from the 60-day injured list. If or when Rizzo makes it back from the IL, he may not be guaranteed an everyday role at first base. Rookie Ben Rice (.713 OPS in 150 plate appearances) has outproduced Rizzo (.630 OPS in 291 plate appearances) since getting a promotion from Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre on June 18, when Rizzo was initially placed on the IL.

Carlos Santana 1B | ARI
Twins' Carlos Santana: Taking seat Sunday
Santana is out of the lineup for Sunday's game versus the Guardians.
Santana started the previous six games but will sit Sunday after going 6-for-22 with a double and a homer during that span. Jose Miranda will receive a start at first base and bat sixth in the series finale versus Cleveland.
