  • Donovan Solano 1B | TEX

Twins' Donovan Solano: Nabs sixth straight start

Solano will start at first base and bat second in Sunday's game against the Pirates.

Solano will stick in the starting nine for the sixth game in a row after going 7-for-22 with a double and an RBI over the previous five contests. The Twins are facing a left-handed opening pitcher (Ryan Borucki) on Sunday, so the righty-hitting Solano could end up giving way to the lefty-hitting Joey Gallo midway through the contest, when right-hander Osvaldo Bido is expected to take over for Pittsburgh.

  • Kole Calhoun 1B | CLE

Guardians' Kole Calhoun: Sitting against lefty

Calhoun is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Tigers.

With southpaw Eduardo Rodriguez on the hill for Detroit, the lefty-hitting Calhoun will duck out of the starting nine. Gabriel Arias will fill it at first base for Calhoun, who extended his hitting streak to six games in Saturday's 4-3 loss by going 1-for-4 with a solo home run and a walk.

  • Triston Casas 1B | BOS

Red Sox's Triston Casas: Out as expected Sunday

Casas (tooth) is not in the lineup for Sunday's game against the Yankees, Christopher Smith of The Springfield Republican reports.

The 23-year-old will be sidelined for the second consecutive game due to a tooth infection. According to Jen McCaffrey of The Athletic, Casas has a follow-up appointment for the issue and could be back in the lineup Monday in Houston if he checks out OK. Justin Turner will receive another look at first base Sunday in the Bronx.

  • Yandy Diaz 1B | TB

Rays' Yandy Diaz: Four hits across doubleheader

Diaz went 4-for-9 with two runs scored and a walk across both games of Saturday's doubleheader against the Angels.

Diaz has been racking up hits for the better part of the last month, as he's maintained a .373 average across his last 19 games. In that span, he's recorded 11 multi-hit games, 10 RBI and 15 runs scored. In addition to a .325 average and .391 wOBA, Diaz also has a career-best .178 ISO across 473 plate appearances this season.

  • Triston Casas 1B | BOS

Red Sox's Triston Casas: Expected out Sunday

Casas (tooth) is expected to be unavailable for Sunday's game against the Yankees, Chris Cotillo of MassLive.com reports.

Casas, who was scratched from Saturday's lineup due to a tooth infection, had the tooth drained at an area hospital. Red Sox manager Alex Cora is targeting Monday for the first baseman's return. Justin Turner switched from designated hitter to first base Saturday.

  • Rays' Jonathan Aranda: Belts first homer

Aranda went 1-for-3 with a solo home run and two walks Saturday across both games of a doubleheader against the Angels.

Aranda started at first base in the matinee and slugged a 430-foot solo shot in the sixth inning for his first major-league long ball of the campaign. He came off the bench in the nightcap and added a walk over two plate appearances. Aranda has gotten into just six big-league games this season, going 4-for-18 with three RBI. He's pounded minor-league pitching, though, slashing .339/.449/.613 with 25 homers and 81 RBI over 434 plate appearances at Triple-A Durham.

  • Luke Raley RF | SEA

Rays' Luke Raley: Sitting versus southpaw

Raley is not in the starting lineup for Game 2 of Saturday's doubleheader with the Angels, Marc Topkin of the Tampa Bay Times reports.

Raley will head to the bench as southpaw Patrick Sandoval draws the start for Los Angeles in Game 2. Harold Ramirez will take over at designated hitter and bat third in Saturday's nightcap.

  • Ryan O'Hearn 1B | PIT

Orioles' Ryan O'Hearn: Not starting Saturday

O'Hearn will be on the bench for Saturday's game against Oakland.

O'Hearn has only started once against a lefty who wasn't an opener this season, so it's no surprise to see him hit the bench here against Ken Waldichuk. Ryan Mountcastle will handle first base, leaving the designated hitter spot open for Adley Rutschman to rest his legs for the day.

  • Ryan Noda 1B | BAL

Athletics' Ryan Noda: Full rehab game on defense

Noda (jaw) started at first base and played a full game in Triple-A Las Vegas' win over Reno on Friday, going 0-for-2 with four walks and three runs.

As his final line implies, Noda was extremely patient at the plate and cashed in with runs on three of his trips on the bases. However, the most important aspect of his night was his ability to play a full game on defense, which seemingly sets the stage for a return to the big-league club at any time going forward.

  • Kyle Manzardo 1B | CLE

Guardians' Kyle Manzardo: Begins rehab assignment

Manzardo (shoulder) went 0-for-3 with a walk and a run scored for Cleveland's rookie-level Arizona Complex League affiliate on Friday.

Manzardo is beginning a rehab assignment after he had been out of action for over six weeks after sustaining an injury with Triple-A Durham while still in the Rays organization. The Guardians acquired Manzardo in the July 31 trade that sent Aaron Civale to Tampa Bay.
