  • Jose Abreu 1B | HOU

White Sox's Jose Abreu: Goes deep again in loss

Abreu went 1-for-3 with a two-run homer in a loss to Minnesota on Tuesday.

Abreu drilled a 377-foot blast to right field in the third inning, his second homer in as many days and fourth in his last six games. He also committed a costly error on a dropped throw in the fifth inning that led to four unearned runs. The 32-year-old is enjoying another productive season at the plate, slashing .273/.313/.496 with 28 homers and 94 RBI in 536 plate appearances.

  • Matt Olson 1B | ATL

Athletics' Matt Olson: Stays hot with another homer

Olson went 2-for-3 with a two-run home run, two runs and a walk to help the Athletics to a 6-2 victory over the Yankees on Tuesday.

Olson is red hot, as this marked his seventh multi-hit effort in his last nine games -- a stretch that has seen him crank four more long balls to give him 26 on the season. The recent tear has the 25-year-old's slash line up to a healthy .267/.348/.545 across 389 plate appearances.

  • Luke Voit 1B | NYM

Yankees' Luke Voit: Starting rehab assignment Friday

Voit (abdomen) is scheduled to begin a rehab assignment Friday and could be activated for the Yankees' next homestand, which starts Aug. 30 versus the Athletics, Kristie Ackert of the New York Daily News reports.

Voit is likely to join Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre for the rehab stint as he makes his way back from a sports hernia. The Yankees are beginning a nine-game, west-coast road trip Tuesday, and it seems unlikely the 28-year-old will make the cross-country trek.

  • Blue Jays' Vladimir Guerrero Jr.: Returns to action

Guerrero (knee) is starting at third base and batting third Tuesday night against the Dodgers, Ben Nicholson-Smith of Sportsnet.ca reports.

Guerrero will rejoin the starting nine after missing just one contest with knee inflammation. He was able to take groundballs prior to Tuesday's matchup and evidently checked out OK. Guerrero is batting .229 with five extra-base hits and five RBI over his last 10 games.

  • Kole Calhoun 1B | CLE

Angels' Kole Calhoun: Situated on bench for nightcap

Calhoun isn't in the starting lineup for Game 2 of Tuesday's doubleheader against the Rangers, Jeff Fletcher of The Orange County Register reports.

Calhoun drew a pair of walks in Game 1, but he'll get the rest of the day off following a 5-1 victory. Brian Goodwin draws the start in right field and is set to bat sixth in Calhoun's place.

  • Blue Jays' Vladimir Guerrero Jr.: Takes part in fielding work

Guerrero (knee) was spotted taking groundballs prior to Tuesday's game against the Dodgers, Shi Davidi of Sportsnet.ca reports.

Guerrero appears unlikely to play in Tuesday's matchup, but it's good to see that he's getting some fielding work in. An update on his availability may come after the rookie completes his workout.

  • C.J. Cron 1B | BOS

Twins' C.J. Cron: Situated on bench

Cron isn't in the starting lineup for Tuesday's game against the White Sox, Brandon Warne of ZoneCoverage.com reports.

Cron will take a seat for the second time in the last three days. As a result, Marwin Gonzalez draws the start at first base and will bat eighth.

  • Blue Jays' Vladimir Guerrero Jr.: Not ruled out for Dodgers series

The Blue Jays view Guerrero (knee) as day-to-day and believe he'll be able to return to the lineup at some point during their three-game series with the Dodgers that begins Tuesday, Jon Morosi of MLB Network reports.

Heyman's report more or less aligns with what Guerrero had to say about his left knee injury Sunday, when the rookie labeled his bout with inflammation as "nothing major." Guerrero has already missed one game with the injury and seems unlikely to be ready to go for Tuesday's series opener, but the fact that the Blue Jays aren't considering the 20-year-old as week-to-week implies some level of optimism that he'll avoid a stint on the injured list. Brandon Drury will likely handle most of the action at the hot corner for however long Guerrero is ultimately sidelined.

  • Yuli Gurriel DH | SD

Astros' Yuli Gurriel: Drives in two in win

Gurriel went 2-for-4 with a double and two RBI in Monday's 5-4 win over the Tigers.

Gurriel's RBI explosion continues apace. The 35-year-old has been Houston's most productive hitter in the second half, swatting 11 home runs and 13 doubles while driving in 38 runs over the last 34 games. His career-high 88 RBI lead the Astros.

  • Jose Abreu 1B | HOU

White Sox's Jose Abreu: Clubs 27th homer

Abreu went 1-for-4 with a three-run home run to help the White Sox to a 6-4 victory over the Twins on Monday.

Abreu provided the crucial blow in this contest, touching up Kyle Gibson with a three-run long ball in the third inning for his 27th of the season. The slugger is now slashing .273/.313/.491 across 495 at-bats as he remains on pace to cross the 30-homer threshold for the fourth time in his career.
