  • Yuli Gurriel DH | SD

Astros' Yuli Gurriel: Has quiet opening week

Gurriel went 0-for-3 with a walk in Wednesday's 4-0 loss to Texas.

Gurriel, like many of Houston's regulars, is having a quiet to start the season. He's hitting .240 (6-for-25), which is higher than Jose Altuve (.222), Michael Brantley (.208) and Alex Bregman (.208). Those three players hit in front of Gurriel, so given that, it's not surprising he hasn't knocked in a run yet. The Astros have scored just 15 runs through seven games.

  • Luke Voit 1B | NYM

Yankees' Luke Voit: Won't miss any games

Voit (hand) won't miss a game after getting hit in the hand by a pitch Tuesday.

Voit won't have to play the field, but he'll bat third as the team's designated hitter. The fact that he's able to play is no surprise as he was able to stay in the game following the incident, and X-rays came back negative.

  • Rowdy Tellez 1B | ATL

Blue Jays' Rowdy Tellez: Smokes second homer

Tellez went 1-for-3 with a walk and a solo home run in Tuesday's loss to the Orioles.

Hitting sixth as the DH, Tellez took Miguel Castro deep in the ninth inning for the Jays' only run of the game. The 24-year-old slugger is now 3-for-10 to begin the season, with two of his hits leaving the yard, and he's been one of the few bright spots in a sluggish Toronto offense.

  • C.J. Cron 1B | BOS

Twins' C.J. Cron: Gets first day off

Cron is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Royals.

The Twins are playing a day game after a night game and have an open date in the schedule Thursday, so manager Rocco Baldelli will rest several regulars to afford them two full days off ahead of Friday's series opener in Philadelphia. Cron will be sitting for the first time in 2019 after going 5-for-15 with two doubles, three runs and an RBI in the Twins' first four games.

  • Yandy Diaz 1B | TB

Rays' Yandy Diaz: Sitting out Wednesday

Diaz (ankle) is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Rockies, Juan Toribio of MLB.com reports.

Diaz exited early Tuesday after tweaking his ankle, adding to the Rays' growing list of injured infielders that already includes Joey Wendle (hamstring) and Matt Duffy (hamstring). Fortunately for the Rays, Diaz doesn't look on track to join those other players on the injured list, as he said that he could pinch hit Wednesday and expects to rejoin the lineup Friday in San Francisco, according to Marc Topkin of the Tampa Bay Times. Daniel Robertson will fill in for Diaz at the hot corner in the series finale with the Rockies.

  • Ryan O'Hearn 1B | PIT

Royals' Ryan O'Hearn: Smashes first homer

O'Hearn went 1-for-3 with a solo home run in Tuesday's 5-4 extra-inning loss to the Twins.

He pulverized a Jose Berrios fastball to right-center field in the sixth inning for a 429-foot homer, O'Hearn's first of the year. After O'Hearn slugged 12 home runs in 44 games in his first taste of the majors last season, the Royals are expecting the 25-year-old to become one of their primary power sources in 2019.

  • Rangers' Asdrubal Cabrera: Slugs another homer

Cabrera went 1-for-4 with a two-run home run Tuesday against the Astros.

Cabrera took Justin Verlander deep in the second inning for his third home run of the season. He's taken a liking to his new home park early on, something that should continue to benefit him as the season wears on. He'll look to keep his hot start to the campaign going as the Rangers face Gerrit Cole on Wednesday.

  • Luke Voit 1B | NYM

Yankees' Luke Voit: Clear after X-rays

Voit had X-rays on his hand come back negative after being hit by a pitch Tuesday against the Tigers, Coley Harvey of ESPN.com reports.

There was never major concern for Voit considering he was able to stay in the game with no apparent issues, but it's nonetheless a reassuring development for a Yankees lineup already riddled with injuries. The 27-year-old expects to play in Wednesday's series finale, but it remains to be seen whether the team opts to give him a day off anyway.

  • Yandy Diaz 1B | TB

Rays' Yandy Diaz: Ankle injury downplayed

Diaz was pulled from Tuesday's game against the Rockies after tweaking his ankle, Juan Toribio of MLB.com reports.

It remains unclear when exactly Diaz sustained the injury, but manager Kevin Cash indicated they believe it to be a minor issue. The 27-year-old will be out of the lineup for Wednesday's series finale and will have a couple days to rest up with Thursday's scheduled off day.

  • Yandy Diaz 1B | TB

Rays' Yandy Diaz: Exits Tuesday's game

Diaz left Tuesday's game against the Rockies with an apparent leg injury, Josh Tolentino of The Athletic reports.

Diaz hit a double during the eighth inning and limped into second base, but he may have actually sustained the injury earlier in the game. Ji-Man Choi entered as a pinch runner and should remain in the game at first base, while the specifics of Diaz's injury are currently unclear.
