  • Carlos Santana 1B | ARI

Indians' Carlos Santana: Tags second spring homer

Santana went 2-for-3 with a home run, three RBI and two runs scored Sunday against Kansas City.

Santana laced an RBI single to left field in the first inning and capped off his day by slugging a two-run homer in the second. The 32-year-old has already showcased his power early in the spring, as he sits on two home runs and seven RBI in 13 at-bats.

  • Yuli Gurriel DH | SD

Astros' Yuli Gurriel: Hot start to spring

Gurriel went 2-for-3 with a double and an RBI in Sunday's game against Washington.

Gurriel knocked home a run in the first inning on a double to left field. He's already collected six hits so far this spring in 11 at-bats. Gurriel slotted in as the starting third baseman Sunday, and he should continue to see time at the hot corner and at second base throughout spring training and into the regular season, although his primary position will remain first base.

  • Yandy Diaz 1B | TB

Rays' Yandy Diaz: Bumped from Sunday's lineup

Diaz is out of the lineup for Sunday's game due to general body soreness, Marc Topkin of the Tampa Bay Times reports.

The fact no specific injury is responsible is an encouraging sign for Diaz. According to Rays broadcaster Neil Solondz, the 27-year-old is expected to return to the lineup Tuesday against the Twins following Monday's off-day.

  • Evan White 1B | LAA

Mariners' Evan White: Back in action Saturday

White (hamstring) went hitless in two at-bats during an 8-0 Cactus League loss to the Royals on Saturday in his return from a two-game absence.

The promising first baseman had missed the prior two games with his hamstring issue, but he was healthy enough to pinch hit for Ryon Healy on Saturday and then remain in the game at first base. White is in his first major-league training camp after being selected 17th overall back in June 2017. White spent most of last season terrorizing High-A pitching, slashing .303/.375/.458 with 45 extra-base hits (27 doubles, seven triples, 11 home runs) and 66 RBI across 538 plate appearances with Modesto. Given his level of success, his 2019 season could well begin in Double-A Arkansas.

  • Justin Bour 1B | SF

Angels' Justin Bour: Hits homer in return

Bour (hamstring) went 1-for-3 with a two-run homer and two strikeouts in Saturday's spring win over the Reds.

Bour has dealt with a hamstring issue over the last week but was able to step into the lineup at designated hitter for his spring debut.

  • Jose Abreu 1B | HOU

White Sox's Jose Abreu: Blasts first spring homer

Abreu started at designated hitter and went 2-for-3 with a home run and two RBI in Saturday's game against the Rockies.

Abreu will be asked to play more games at DH this season and share first base with Yonder Alonso. He had been an ironman his first four seasons in Chicago before playing a career-low 128 games in 2018. As such, the White Sox will build in occasional breaks where the 32-year-old does not have to play in the field.

  • Tigers' Brandon Dixon: Goes deep Saturday

Dixon went 2-for-3 with a two-run homer in Saturday's Grapefruit League win over the Braves.

Dixon is now slashing .273/.385/.545 over 11 at-bats this spring. The 26-year-old made his MLB debut last season with the Reds and posted a disappointing .178/.218/.356 line across 74 games, though he has a chance to make the Tigers as a reserve infielder.

  • Justin Bour 1B | SF

Angels' Justin Bour: Back in action

Bour (hamstring) is starting at designated hitter Saturday against the Reds, J.P. Hoornstra of the Los Angeles Daily News reports.

He is hitting third, and while he is not being deployed in the field, this eases concerns that the hamstring injury would linger throughout camp.

  • Yandy Diaz 1B | TB

Rays' Yandy Diaz: Hitting leadoff in spring game

Diaz will hit leadoff in a split-squad spring game for the Rays on Saturday, Marc Topkin of the Tampa Bay Times reports.

Diaz was set to hit sixth in Saturday's lineup, but he was moved up to the top spot in place of Matt Duffy, who was scratched with a sore hamstring.

  • Justin Bour 1B | SF

Angels' Justin Bour: Expected to return over weekend

Bour (hamstring) is expected to get into a game over the weekend, Jeff Fletcher of The Orange County Register reports.

Bour's minor hamstring issue was initially expected to keep him out until early next week, but he's apparently a day or two ahead of that timeline. That bodes well for his readiness for Opening Day, where he's expected to be the everyday first baseman for a month until Shohei Ohtani (elbow) returns and forces him to split time with Albert Pujols.
