  • Jose Abreu 1B | HOU

White Sox's Jose Abreu: Not returning Sunday

Abreu (abdomen) is not listed on the lineup card for Sunday's contest against the Angels, Brian Sandalow of the Chicago Sun-Times reports.

Earlier reports suggested that the All-Star first baseman could return for Sunday's series finale, but the White Sox will instead continue to slow-play his timetable. Abreu could still return ahead of Monday's game against the Royals, though his exact date is still a bit murky. Matt Davidson will continue to man first base until Abreu is back in action.

  • Matt Olson 1B | ATL

Athletics' Matt Olson: Knocks go-ahead homer

Olson went 1-for-1 with a solo homer in Saturday's win over the Rangers.

Olson replaced Mark Canha in the top of the seventh inning with the game tied 6-6, and the first baseman proceeded to give the A's the lead in the bottom half of the frame with his solo shot off Chris Martin. It's been a bit of an underwhelming season for Olson after he unleashed 24 homers in 59 games last year, though he's still hitting a respectable .239/.323/.445 with 25 homers in 143 contests.

  • Rowdy Tellez 1B | ATL

Blue Jays' Rowdy Tellez: Knocks first big-league homer

Tellez went 2-for-4 with a walk and a solo homer in Saturday's loss to the Indians.

Tellez went back-to-back with Randal Grichuk in the fifth inning, marking his first major-league homer in what was his fourth game. The Blue Jays seem determined to get the rookie at-bats down the stretch, as he's now started three consecutive games, going 7-for-13 with five doubles and a homer in those appearances.

  • Jose Abreu 1B | HOU

White Sox's Jose Abreu: Sunday return possible

Abreu (abdomen) participated in live batting practice and fielded grounders prior to Saturday's game against the Angels, James Fegan of The Athletic reports.

Abreu was hoping to return at some point this weekend as his recovery from surgery has gone smoothly, and he could still be activated for Sunday's series finale. The White Sox could very well play things safe and wait until Monday at Kansas City to return the 31-year-old from the disabled list.

  • Matt Olson 1B | ATL

Athletics' Matt Olson: Day off Saturday

Olson is not in the lineup against the Rangers on Saturday, Evan Grant of the Dallas Morning News reports.

Olson will receive a breather with left-hander Yohander Mendez on the mound for Texas. Mark Canha will draw a start at first base and bat seventh in Olson's absence.

  • Rowdy Tellez 1B | ATL

Blue Jays' Rowdy Tellez: Records two doubles vs. Indians

Tellez went 2-for-5 with two doubles, an RBI and a run scored in Friday's win over Cleveland

In just three games since being called up from the minors, Tellez has gone an impressive 6-for-10 with six doubles and three RBI. While Justin Smoak and Kendrys Morales still present road blocks between Tellez and regular playing time, the rookie's usage so far suggests the Blue Jays might give him a long look over the final weeks of the season.

  • Ryan O'Hearn 1B | PIT

Royals' Ryan O'Hearn: Out of Friday's lineup

O'Hearn is not in the lineup against Minnesota on Friday, Rustin Dodd of The Athletic reports.

O'Hearn will retreat to the bench following seven straight starts. During that span, he's gone 8-for-25 (.320 average) with three home runs and eight RBI. Hunter Dozier will man first base while Alcides Escobar gets a start at third for the series opener.

  • Rowdy Tellez 1B | ATL

Blue Jays' Rowdy Tellez: Three extra-base hits

Tellez went 3-for-4 with three doubles, an RBI and a run scored Thursday against the Indians.

Tellez built off his impressive debut by smacking three more doubles and scoring the first run of his career. In the process, he became the first player since the live-ball era began in 1920 to record an extra-base hit in his first three major league at-bats. With Justin Smoak and Kendrys Morales still ahead of him on the depth chart, however, it remains unclear how much of an impact Tellez can make to close the season.

  • Luke Voit 1B | NYM

Yankees' Luke Voit: Belts another home run

Voit went 1-for-4 with a solo home run and a strikeout in Tuesday's win over the Athletics.

Voit delivered the decisive blow, breaking a 1-1 tie in the eighth inning in the eventual 5-1 win. The first baseman has now gone deep in three straight games and has seemingly leaped Greg Bird on the depth chart by hitting .322/.385/.678 with seven homers in his first 19 games with the Yankees.

  • Yuli Gurriel DH | SD

Astros' Yuli Gurriel: Hits two-run homer

Gurriel went 1-for-4 with a two-run homer in Tuesday's win over the Twins.

Gurriel tagged Trevor May for a two-run home run -- his 10th of the year -- in the first inning. It was Gurriel's second home run in as many days, yet only his third hit in his last 24 at-bats. The 34-year-old is hitting .275/.309/.408 with 29 doubles, 67 RBI and 59 runs scored on the year.
