Diaz went 3-for-4 with a home run, a triple, three runs, two RBI, one walk and one strikeout Tuesday against the Royals.

This was Diaz's first home run in 245 MLB plate appearances. He is now slashing .333/.364/.476 in 66 plate appearances this season. Diaz has started three of the last four games at designated hitter, but with rosters expanded and Josh Donaldson (calf) nearing activation, that playing time pattern is not guaranteed to continue. Diaz has proven for several years in the upper levels that he can hit for average and get on base at a high clip, but he needs to tap into noteworthy power to profile down the defensive spectrum.

Abreu (abdomen) underwent surgery to relieve testicular torsion and hopes to return this weekend, James Fegan of The Athletic Chicago reports.

Abreu was originally targeting a mid-September return, but the first baseman is apparently feeling much better after the surgery and is hoping to beat that timeline. That said, the White Sox will likely play it safe with Abreu with the team out of playoff contention. Prior to landing on the shelf, the 31-year-old hit .272/.331/.491 with 22 homers and 78 RBI across 122 games.

Calhoun is not in the lineup Tuesday against the Rangers, Jeff Fletcher of The Orange County Register reports.

Calhoun sits after starting 40 straight games. He hit a solid .284/.374/.535 with nine homers over that stretch. Michael Hermosillo will get the start in right field in his absence.

Tellez will be called up by the Blue Jays, Ben Nicholson-Smith of Sportsnet.ca reports.

Tellez's awful 2017 in which he hit just .222/.295/.333 with six homers in a full season at Triple-A Buffalo sapped most of his prospect hype. He's been much better this year, though a .270/.340/.425 line with 13 homers is hardly impressive for a first baseman. Still just 23, he'll get the chance to see how his bat plays at the big-league level while serving in a bench role down the stretch.

O'Hearn went 3-for-4 with a double, two home runs and three RBI in Monday's 5-1 win over the Indians.

O'Hearn launched a solo homer in the fourth inning and a two-run blast to right in the sixth to hand Kansas City a four-run lead. Though he's only played in 24 games this year, the 25-year-old sits with nine homers, 22 RBI and a .987 OPS.

Voit went 1-for-4 with a two-run home run in Monday's 6-3 loss to the Athletics.

Voit plated a pair in the second inning on a two-run blast to right-center field, but the Yankees would fall short in the series opener. The 27-year-old has gone deep in back-to-back games and he's launched four home runs over his previous 10 contests. It'll be difficult for New York to keep Voit out of the starting nine if he continues to stay hot at the dish down the stretch.

Abreu (abdomen) performed upper-body work Monday as part of his recovery, Phil Thompson of the Chicago Tribune reports.

White Sox general manager Rick Hahn is targeting a mid-September return for Abreu, who underwent surgery last month. "He's feeling good, looks good," manager Rick Renteria said. "Obviously, we want to make sure he's completely resolved of his issue he's dealing with. He's probably five, six, seven days away from actually being able to get on the field."

Guerrero will not be promoted to the majors this season, Mike Wilner of Sportsnet 590 The Fan reports.

There was some hope that Guerrero would get a cup of coffee in September, but the Blue Jays will hold off on promoting the 19-year-old stud in order to keep his service time down. Guerrero will undoubtably make his major-league debut sometime in 2019 after slashing a combined .382/.439/.637 with 20 homers across 94 games in the minors this season.

Cron went 2-for-5 with a double and a solo home run in a win over the Indians on Sunday.

Cron belted both his 25th double and 26th homer of the season off Carlos Carrasco, with the latter serving as his second round tripper in the last three games. The 28-year-old continues to enjoy semi-regular playing time and is now just nine RBI from eclipsing the career-high 69 he established in 2016.

Voit will start at first base and bat sixth Sunday against the Tigers.

Voit will start for the fourth straight game, with three of those assignments coming against left-handed pitching. At the very least, Voit seems to have emerged as a platoon mate at first base with Greg Bird and may even be viewed as the preferred option against right-handed pitching, too. Bird finished August with a sub-.200 on-base percentage and slugged just two home runs, while Voit has slashed .400/.486/.800 since being recalled from Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre on Aug. 21.
