  • Asdrubal Cabrera hitting star in win over Royals

    Indians infielder Asdrubal Cabrera, who got the start at designated hitter Sunday, was 3 for 5 with two RBI in a 6-4 win over the Royals. He doubled to score Lonnie Chisenhall and Drew Stubbs in the sixth inning to give the Indians the lead for good. 

    Cabrera, who also scored a run, is batting .255 with seven homers and 34 RBI over 271 at-bats.

    Carlos Santana takes five-game streak into break

    Indians catcher Carlos Santana reached base four times Sunday during a 6-4 win over the Royals. Santana went 3 for 3 with a walk to extend his hitting streak to five games. 

    Santana's double to right field in the third inning drove in Michael Brantley. He's batting .275. 

    He's gone 8 for 16 during his streak with two doubles, a triple and three RBI. He has 11 homers and 43 RBI.

    Chris Carter has sore ankle

    Astros manager Bo Porter said Chris Carter missed Sunday's game against Tampa Bay due to a sore ankle injured Friday, MLB.com reports. 

    "He kind of tweaked his ankle a little bit [on Friday night] rounding third base," Porter said. "Yesterday he got treatment and today, with the All-Star break coming up and us having a few more days, it just made sense to let him rest and come back on Friday."

    Carter is batting .229 on the year and has gone 6 for 25 (.240) in July with 12 strikeouts in nine games and seven starts.

    Chris Carter insists he's healthy

    Astros outfielder Chris Carter missed a second straight game Sunday to finish the first half of the season in Tampa Bay. That said, Carter insists he's fine, the Houston Chronicle reports. 

    Carter had been dealing with a bruised right hand, but he says that isn't keeping him from the lineup. His .229 batting average may be the reason he's not playing much these days. Carter has gone 6 for 25 (.240) in July with 12 strikeouts in nine games and seven starts.

    Indians shortstop Asdrubal Cabrera hit his seventh home run Thursday against the Blue Jays.

    Cabrera took an R.A. Dickey knuckleball out for a solo shot. Cabrera finished 1 for 4 with a run and an RBI. He's hitting .251.

    Chris Carter homers in return to starting lineup

    Starting for the first time in four games Wednesday due to a hand injury, Astros outfielder Chris Carter went 1 for 3 with two walks and his 18th home run of the season in a 5-4 loss to the Cardinals.

    Carter also struck out twice to raise his strikeout total to 122, the highest mark in the majors. He owns a .229/.327/.472 line in 284 at-bats.

    Chris Carter starting Wednesday

    Astros left fielder Chris Carter is back in the starting lineup for Wednesday's game against the Cardinals. Carter pinch-hit in the last two games after missing a game with a minor hand injury.

    Batting fourth Wednesday, Carter has hit .228/.323/.463 with 17 home runs, 46 RBI and a league-high 120 strikeouts in 281 at-bats.

    Chris Carter dealing with minor hand injury

    Astros first baseman Chris Carter was held out the starting lineup for the third consecutive game Tuesday night against the Cardinals with a minor hand injury. Carter took part in batting practice Tuesday and could return soon, manager Bo Porter told MLB.com.

    "I shook his hand. He said, 'It's OK for me to shake your hand, but if you squeeze, it hurts,'" Porter said. "He didn't really feel too many ill effects, but I think it's good for him to go through a full batting practice today."

    Carlos Santana homers in 9-6 win

    Indians catcher Carlos Santana homered Sunday during a 9-6 win over Detroit. Santana took starter Doug Fister deep in the first inning for a two-run blast with two outs. 

    Santana, who now has 11 HRs on the year, finished 1 for 4 with the two RBI. He's batting .266 for Cleveland. The 27-year-old has gone 5 for 17 over his last four games with four RBI. He has 40 RBI on the season.

    Chris Carter beats Rays with two home runs

    Astros outfielder/first baseman Chris Carter had a monster performance in a 4-1 win over the Rays Wednesday. Carter homered twice in the game. 

    Carter went deep off starter Roberto Hernandez in the second inning. He added his 17th HR of the season in the seventh for a three-run blast off Jake McGee to give Houston the final score of 4-1. 

    He finished 2 for 4 with all four RBI for the Astros. The two homers were Carter's second multi-HR game of the season. He also did it back on April 9 at Seattle.
