Reds first baseman Joey Votto is not in the starting lineup against the Tigers on Wednesday.

Votto, who is hitting .333 in his last 15 games, will be replaced by Chris Dominguez at first base.

Braves first baseman Freddie Freeman went 1 for 5 with a double, his 20th, in Tuesday's loss to Boston. 

Freeman scored and drove in his 41st run of the season. The double extended his hitting streak to six straight. He's hitting .346 over the streak. 

Paul Goldschmidt will be the designated hitter for the Diamondbacks' matchup with the Angels on Tuesday. Goldschmidt has started at first base in all but one game this season, so manager Chip Hale will use Tuesday's game in an American League ballpark as a way to get Goldschmidt some rest.

Danny Dorn, just recalled from Triple-A, will get the start at first base on Tuesday.

Diamondbacks first baseman Paul Goldschmidt hit his 18th home run of the season in Monday night's 7-3 win over the Angels. 

Goldschmidt hit a three-run bomb in the third inning. Goldschmidt finished the game 3 for 4 and also hit a double. Over the past 10 games, Goldschmidt is hitting .457 with two home runs, two doubles and eight RBI. 

Goldschmidt now holds a .366/.484/.678 slash line. 

Diamondbacks first baseman Paul Goldschmidt continued to be unstoppable at the plate during Sunday's 4-0 win over the Giants.

Goldschmidt went 2 for 3 with two walks and a run scored.

In his las five games, Goldschmidt is hitting a whopping .550 with 11 hits in 20 at-bats.

Reds first baseman Joey Votto went deep for the 14th time this season in Saturday's 4-3 loss to the Cubs. Votto's home run, a solo shot in the fourth inning, brought the Reds to within a run, but it wasn't enough to avoid the defeat.

After his two-hit performance on Saturday, the slugging first baseman is batting .348 (16 for 46) with five home runs and 12 RBI in 12 games this month.

Diamondbacks first baseman Paul Goldschmidt continues to hit the ball well, adding two more notches to his ledger in Saturday's victory over the Giants. 

Goldschmidt's fourth-inning single drove in the D-Backs' fourth run, giving him 50 RBIs on the season. And, after going 2-for-4, Goldschmidt now leads the majors in batting average at .355. 

Goldschmidt has nine hits in his last four games to raise his average by 17 points. 

Phillies first baseman Ryan Howard is back in the starting lineup on Saturday against the Pirates.

Howard was benched for Friday's game and has been out of the lineup for three of the last six games.

Howard is hitting .239 with 11 home runs and 28 RBI in 205 at-bats this season.

Mets shortstop Wilmer Flores launched his 10th home run of the season in Friday's 5-3 win over the Braves. His solo shot in the second inning got the scoring started for the Mets, though it was his only hit of the game.

Flores was batting in the cleanup spot in the order for the first time in his career. He's the first Mets shortstop to bat fourth since 2002, and the first to homer from the cleanup spot since Howard Johnson in 1991. 

Flores is 10 for 37 with two home runs this month.

Continued failure against left-handers has Phillies veteran first baseman Ryan Howard benched Friday night against Pittsburgh southpaw Jeff Locke.

Howard has two hits in seven at-bats against Locke lifetime, but is batting .167 against lefties (7-for-42) this season. He has been out of the lineup for three of the last six games despite six hits in his last 20 at-bats.
