  • Diamondbacks' Christian Walker: Garners hit in return

Walker went 1-for-5 with an RBI in Tuesday's 8-7 win over the Giants.

Walker was in the starting lineup on the day he was activated from the 10-day injured list. He missed the entire month of August because of an oblique injury. Walker is set to resume his role as the everyday first baseman.

  • Cardinals' Paul Goldschmidt: Cracks 21st homer

Goldschmidt went 3-for-5 with a home run, a double, and three RBI in Tuesday's 7-4 victory at Milwaukee.

The former MVP stretched the St. Louis lead to 2-0 in the second with an RBI double, his 27th two-bagger of the season. Goldschmidt returned in the fourth inning to launch a 430-foot solo shot off Aaron Civale. The free-agent-to-be has caught fire lately, hitting .342 (26-for-76) with four homers, nine doubles, 13 RBI and five runs scored over his last 20 games. Overall, he is now slashing .247/.305/.420 with 21 homers, 58 RBI, 61 runs scored and nine stolen bases across 568 plate appearances.

  • Juan Yepez LF | WAS

Nationals' Juan Yepez: Out of Tuesday's lineup

Yepez is not in the lineup for Tuesday's game against the Marlins, Bobby Blanco of MASNSports.com reports.

It's the second time on the bench in Washington's past three games for Yepez, who has gone 7-for-23 with two homers over his past seven contests. Andres Chaparro will shift to designated hitter while Joey Gallo starts at first base against Miami righty Max Meyer.

  • Diamondbacks' Christian Walker: Returns from IL

The Diamondbacks reinstated Walker (oblique) from the 10-day injured list Tuesday, Jesse Friedman of GoPHNX.com reports.

A left oblique strain sent Walker to the injured list at the end of July, and he's now set to reclaim his role as Arizona's everyday first baseman. The 33-year-old slashed .152/.293/.273 with a homer and five RBI across his last 10 games prior to getting hurt, and he may need some time to kick the rust off after not playing in any rehab games. Lourdes Gurriel (calf) was placed on the IL in a corresponding move.

  • Dodgers' Freddie Freeman: Lifts pair of homers

Freeman went 2-for-3 with two two-run home runs and a sacrifice fly during Monday's 11-6 win over the Diamondbacks.

Freeman notched his first multi-homer performance of the campaign, pushing the first baseman over 20 long balls for an eighth consecutive year, discounting the shortened 2020 campaign. Freeman has gone yard in three of his last four games, going 6-for-15 (.295) with 10 RBI and four runs scored during that stretch. The 34-year-old boasts a .880 OPS in 549 plate appearances.

  • Luis Arraez 2B | SD

Padres' Luis Arraez: Provides offensive spark in win

Arraez went 2-for-4 with two RBI, a run scored and a stolen base in Monday's 3-0 win over the Tigers.

Arraez had a hand in each of the Padres' three runs and swiped second base in the third inning. Over his past 10 games, the 27-year-old has tallied five multi-hit efforts with a homer, seven RBI and two stolen bases. On the year, he is hitting .310 with four home runs, 41 RBI, 71 runs scored and a career-high eight steals across 583 plate appearances.

  • Ty France 1B | CIN

Reds' Ty France: Has four hits in win

France went 4-for-4 with a double and an RBI in Monday's 5-3 win against the Astros.

France got a hit in all four of his at-bats Monday, making it his second career four-hit game and the first since 2021. France has been a solid piece for the Reds since acquiring him in July. The 30-year-old is hitting .284 in 29 games with the Reds after struggling to a .223 average in his first 88 games of the season with the Mariners.

  • Diamondbacks' Christian Walker: Activation imminent

Walker (oblique) will rejoin the Diamondbacks for this week's series in San Francisco, Jesse Friedman of GoPHNX.com reports.

It would appear he will be activated from the 10-day injured list during the series, perhaps as soon as Tuesday. Walker has been working out at the team's spring training complex in Arizona and got in some live at-bats over the weekend. The first baseman has been sidelined since late July with a left oblique strain.

  • Dominic Smith 1B | CIN

Reds' Dominic Smith: Dropped from 40-man

The Reds designated Smith for assignment Monday.

Smith went 5-for-26 with four runs scored and 11 strikeouts over nine games during his time as a Red. He still holds a .691 OPS on the season through 307 plate appearances and could contribute for another team down the stretch, though he would not be eligible to play in the postseason. Ty France will presumably take over as Cincinnati's primary first baseman.

  • Cardinals' Paul Goldschmidt: Three more hits Sunday

Goldschmidt went 3-for-5 with two doubles in Sunday's 14-7 win over the Yankees.

Remarkably, Goldschmidt didn't have an RBI or a run in the high-scoring contest, but he did his part to keep the line moving. The first baseman has gone 16-for-30 (.533) during his eight-game hitting streak, which has seen him produce a quartet of three-hit efforts. For the year, Goldschmidt is slashing .244/.302/.409 with 20 home runs, 55 RBI, 60 runs scored, 25 doubles and eight stolen bases over 130 contests. It's too late to fully salvage what's been a challenging year, but he can still help fantasy managers if he stays hot in September.
