  • Cardinals' Paul Goldschmidt: Goes yard in win

Goldschmidt went 1-for-4 with a solo home run in Tuesday's 5-2 win over the Orioles.

Goldschmidt welcomed Baltimore starter John Means back from Tommy John surgery with a first-inning solo shot. This was Goldschmidt's second homer over 10 games in September and his 24th long ball of the year, though he's hitting just .200 this month. The small slump has him down to a .272/.363/.452 slash line with 74 RBI, 82 runs scored, 26 doubles and 10 stolen bases through 140 contests overall.

  • Pete Alonso 1B | BAL

Mets' Pete Alonso: Clubs 44th homer

Alonso went 2-for-5 with a two-run home run in Tuesday's 7-4 win over the Diamondbacks.

The first baseman launched a Ryne Nelson fastball into the second deck in right-center field in the fifth inning, giving Alonso his fifth long ball in the last eight games. Matt Olson has run away with the home run and RBI crowns in 2023, but Alonso is second in the majors in both categories, sitting tied with Shohei Ohtani (oblique) at 44 homers while his 105 RBI are currently one ahead of Kyle Tucker and two clear of Mookie Betts.

  • Matt Olson 1B | ATL

Braves' Matt Olson: Goes deep again Tuesday

Olson went 2-for-4 with a solo homer, a walk and an additional run scored in Tuesday's 7-6 win over the Phillies.

The 29-year-old slugger was at it again Tuesday, launching a solo shot of Zack Wheeler in the fourth inning. The homer was Olson's 51st on the campaign, tying Atlanta's franchise record, which was set by Andruw Jones in 2005. Olson is now seven clear of Pete Alonso and Shohei Ohtani for the MLB lead in long balls, while Atlanta is on the cusp of clinching an NL East title.

  • Diamondbacks' Christian Walker: Ends hitless skid

Walker went 1-for-3 with a walk and a stolen base in Tuesday's 7-4 loss to the Mets.

Walker's second-inning single halted a hitless run that had reached 18 consecutive at-bats. He then stole second base but was stranded in what was a recurring theme for the Diamondbacks, who went 2-for-10 with runners in scoring position, including a pair of double plays with the bases loaded. The steal was Walker's ninth, establishing a new career high for the first baseman.

  • Dodgers' Freddie Freeman: Paces offense with four hits

Freeman went 4-for-5 with a home run, a double, two RBI and four runs scored in Tuesday's 11-2 win over the Padres.

Freeman extended his hitting streak to six games with this impressive effort. He hit a two-run homer in the third inning that was all the Dodgers needed to win, and he scored each time he got on base. The first baseman has accumulated six four-hit efforts this season. For the year, he's up to a .339/.416/.579 slash line with 26 homers, 93 RBI, 121 runs scored, 18 stolen bases and 55 doubles through 144 games.

  • Cubs' Jeimer Candelario: Placed on 10-day IL

The Cubs placed Candelario on the 10-day injured list Tuesday with a lower-back strain, Meghan Montemurro of the Chicago Tribune reports.

Candelario suffered the injury in Sunday's series finale against the Diamondbacks and will be sidelined until at least a week from Thursday. Nick Madrigal is playing third base Tuesday at Colorado, with Cody Bellinger covering first base and Christopher Morel filling the DH role. Alexander Canario has been recalled from Triple-A Iowa as a depth option off the bench.

  • LaMonte Wade 1B | CHW

Giants' LaMonte Wade: Delivers walk-off knock

Wade went 3-for-5 with one RBI in Monday's 5-4 extra-inning win over the Guardians.

Wade remains limited to a strong-side platoon role, but he's thrived with that usage in September. He's gone 9-for-24 (.375) with four RBI over seven contests this month, and his RBI single in the 10th inning Monday was a walk-off hit. The first baseman is up to .258/.374/.407 slash line with 14 home runs, 39 RBI, 57 runs scored and two stolen bases over 120 contests this year. After hitting leadoff against right-handers for much of the year, Wade has been deeper in the lineup for the last three games while Mike Yastrzemski gets the leadoff nod.

  • Dominic Smith 1B | ATL

Nationals' Dominic Smith: Homers in win

Smith went 2-for-4 with one double and a solo home run in Monday's win over the Pirates.

Smith clobbered his eighth home run in the sixth to tack on an insurance run for the Nationals, then added a double in the eighth for his third multi-hit effort in six games. Since the start of September, Smith has hit .346 with three doubles and two homers in 26 at-bats.

  • Matt Olson 1B | ATL

Braves' Matt Olson: Reaches 50 homers

Olson went 2-for-3 with two homers and four RBI in Monday's 7-5 loss to the Phillies.

Olson got Atlanta on the board with a three-run homer off Michael Lorenzen in the third inning before adding a solo blast, his 50th of the season, in the sixth. Olson has been on a sensational run of late -- he's hit safely in nine straight games, going 17-for-33 (.515) with seven homers and 15 RBI in that span. He leads the league in both homers and RBI (127) while batting a career-best .279 with a 1.000 OPS through 645 plate appearances this season.

  • Giants' Wilmer Flores: Will not start Monday

Flores is not in the lineup for Monday's game against the Guardians.

Flores has recorded five extra-base hits and a .884 OPS since the start of September, but he will get a breather after starting nine straight games for the Giants.
