  • Garrett Cooper 1B | ATL

Marlins' Garrett Cooper: Clubs fourth homer

Cooper went 1-for-5 with a two-run home run in Tuesday's 5-4 loss to the Rockies.

In nine games since returning from an inner ear infection, Cooper has gone 6-for-36 (.167) with four RBI and three runs scored. He's still seeing regular playing time between first base and designated hitter despite the sluggish hitting. For the season, the veteran is slashing .242/.285/.391 with four homers, 17 RBI, eight runs scored, five doubles and a triple through 33 contests.

  • Matt Mervis 1B | WAS

Cubs' Matt Mervis: Goes deep Tuesday

Mervis went 2-for-3 with a walk, a two-run home run, three total RBI an additional run in Tuesday's win over the Mets.

Mervis was dropped to ninth in the order for the first time all season, but the 25-year-old responded with arguably his best game of the year. The Cubs have veterans Eric Hosmer and Trey Mancini on hand, but Mervis figures to keep seeing regular playing time at first base as the team looks to get him acclimated to the MLB level, and efforts like this certainly help his cause.

  • Cardinals' Paul Goldschmidt: Goes yard twice in win

Goldschmidt went 2-for-4 with a walk and two solo home runs in Tuesday's 8-5 win over the Reds.

The first baseman took Graham Ashcraft deep in the first and third innings in a wild affair that saw the two teams combine for 10 runs in the first four frames. Remarkably, Goldschmidt has homered in only three of the last 32 games, but all three times he launched multiple long balls. He's up to nine homers in 49 games on the season to go along with a stellar .293/.404/.521 slash line.

  • LaMonte Wade 1B | CHW

Giants' LaMonte Wade: Leading off after thumb scare

Wade (thumb) is in the starting lineup Tuesday against the Twins.

Wade made an early exit from Monday's series opener versus Minnesota due to a jammed thumb, but it appears that all is well. He will start at first base and bat leadoff for the Giants on Tuesday night at Target Field.

  • Matt Mervis 1B | WAS

Cubs' Matt Mervis: Dropped to ninth in lineup

Mervis has been dropped to the ninth spot in the lineup Tuesday against the Mets.

This is the lowest lineup spot yet for the highly-touted young first baseman, who has struggled to a .208/.255/.292 slash line through his first 51 major-league plate appearances with the Cubs. Mervis seems sure to get it going at some point, and maybe a little less pressure will help the cause toward a breakout.

  • Alec Bohm 3B | PHI

Phillies' Alec Bohm: Not in lineup Tuesday

Bohm is on the bench Tuesday night against the Diamondbacks.

Kody Clemens will start at first base and bat eighth versus the Diamondbacks and right-hander Ryne Nelson. Edmundo Sosa is at third base and hitting ninth. Bohm has slashed just .227/.284/.333 in 74 plate appearances since the calendar flipped to May.

  • Brewers' Rowdy Tellez: Belts long ball in loss

Tellez went 2-for-3 with a solo home run in a loss to the Astros on Monday.

Tellez accounted for the only run off Houston starter Cristian Javier with his solo homer in the second inning. The long ball was the second in as many days for the first baseman, who leads Milwaukee with 12 homers on the campaign. Tellez went deep a career-high 35 times last year and is on pace to challenge that mark this season.

  • Dodgers' Freddie Freeman: Knocks three-run blast

Freeman went 3-for-5 with a three-run home run, a double and two runs scored in Monday's win over Atlanta.

Freeman gave the Dodgers a lead with his three-run shot in the fifth inning. The veteran slugger has been on fire over the last two weeks; he's gone 22-for-48 (.458) with 12 extra-base hits and 17 RBI in his last 12 games. During that span, Freeman has produced nine multi-hit games while boosting his season slash line to .328/.399/.569.

  • LaMonte Wade 1B | CHW

Giants' LaMonte Wade: Leaves with thumb issue

Wade was removed from Monday's victory over the Twins with a thumb injury, Susan Slusser of the San Francisco Chronicle reports.

Wade made it through eight innings of Monday's contest, but he was pinch hit for in the top of the ninth, and manager Gabe Kapler said after the game that Wade "jammed his thumb a bit." Kapler did not seem concerned about Wade's status, but his early exit leaves his status in question for Tuesday's matchup.

  • C.J. Cron 1B | BOS

Rockies' C.J. Cron: Yet to resume activities

Cron (back) has yet to resume baseball activities, Patrick Saunders of The Denver Post reports.

Cron has already missed a week of action with lower-back spasms but remains limited to just receiving treatment to this point. He'll be eligible for activation from the injured list later this week, but it sounds like it could be a while longer than that. Mike Moustakas and Michael Toglia have been handling first base in Cron's absence.
