Goldschmidt went 1-for-5 with a double and a run in an extra-inning win over the Cubs on Wednesday.

Goldschmidt extended his hitting streak to 16 games, a stretch during which he's slashed an outstanding .379/.446/.667 over 74 plate appearances while striking out at a modest 14.9 percent clip. The veteran slugger's surge has his season average up to a solid .271, and he continues to put very good wood on the ball with a career-high 9.5 percent barrel rate.

Cabrera (hamstring) played third base and logged four at-bats with the Diamondbacks' entry in the rookie-level Arizona Complex League.

Arizona manager Torey Lovullo said the veteran felt "very good" following the session, and Cabrera will get at-bats during a "B" game against minor-league pitchers as a next step. At this point, the organization is hoping to get Cabrera healthy enough so that he can be traded.

Flores went 1-for-4 with a two-run home run as the Giants defeated the Dodgers, 4-2 on Wednesday.

Flores was held quiet until he erupted for a go-ahead two-run home run in the ninth off Los Angeles closer Kenley Jansen to give San Francisco the lead for good. The infielder has now recorded an extra-base hit in the three straight games and remains entrenched at third base with Evan Longoria injured.

Smith went 2-for-4 with a walk and a grand slam in Wednesday's 7-0 win over the Reds.

He blew the game open in the third inning by taking Jeff Hoffman deep with the bases juiced. Smith has found his groove in July, batting .305 (18-for-59) with five of his 11 homers on the year along with 14 RBI and 14 runs through 17 games.

Hoskins went 1-for-3 with a home run, an additional run scored and two walks in Tuesday's loss against the Yankees.

Hoskins had gone eight straight games without a home run but snapped that skid here with a solo bomb in the second inning off Domingo German. The slugger now has 21 homers on the season and has a realistic shot at posting the second 30-homer campaign of his big-league career. He's also seeing the ball well, as he's hitting .304 with a 1.170 OPS across 56 plate appearances this month.

Tellez isn't starting Wednesday's game against the Royals.

Even with right-hander Brad Keller starting for the Royals on Wednesday, Tellez will retreat to the bench once again. Jace Peterson will start at first base and bat sixth.

Walker isn't starting Wednesday's game against the Pirates.

Walker had started in each of the five games after the All-Star break, and he went 6-for-19 with three doubles, three runs, an RBI, two walks and six strikeouts. He'll get a breather while Pavin Smith takes over at first base and bats fifth.

Freeman went 2-for-4 with a solo home run in Tuesday's 2-1 win over the Padres.

With the score tied 1-1 in the sixth inning, Freeman drove a 95 mph Yu Darvish fastball on the outside corner over the fence in left field for the game's deciding run. The first baseman is back in MVP form, going yard five times in his last seven games while compiling a .407/.484/.741 slash line in July. The surge has boosted his OPS on the season to .903 with 22 homers and 55 RBI through 92 contests.

Wade went 1-for-3 with a solo home run Tuesday in a loss to the Dodgers.

Wade hit the longest of the Giants' four homers Tuesday, drilling a 413-foot shot to right field in the third inning. The 27-year-old has nine long balls on the campaign, with five coming over his past 18 games.

Cron went 1-for-4 with a two-run home run Tuesday against the Mariners.

Cron took Paul Sewald yard in the eighth inning to record his 14th homer of the season. It was his third home run in his last five starts, during which time he's also tallied seven RBI and three runs scored. Overall, Cron is hitting .248/.357/.476 with 37 runs scored and 41 RBI across 291 plate appearances.
