  • Braves' Freddie Freeman: Continues to rake

Freeman went 3-for-5 with two RBI and a run scored during the Braves' 5-1 win over the Orioles on Tuesday.

Freeman is slashing a monstrous .500/.559/1.033 through his past 30 at-bats, including 14 RBI. He has reached base safely in 31 consecutive contests and is rapidly building a candidacy for MVP consideration.

  • Keston Hiura 2B | LAD

Brewers' Keston Hiura: Launches 12th home run

Hiura went 1-for-4 with a three-run home run and a walk while recording four total RBI in the Brewers' 18-3 Tuesday night victory over the Cardinals.

Hiura was a lowly 2-for-17 with one RBI over his previous six games prior to Tuesday's strong showing. The Brewers offense has been feast or famine of late, scoring a combined seven runs in five games in between 19- and 18-run outbursts. Part of the volatility stems from Hiura, who is among the worst in the league in strikeout percentage.

  • Cardinals' Paul Goldschmidt: Plates two in loss

Goldschmidt went 1-for-2 with two RBI and a walk during the Cardinal's 18-3 loss to the Brewers on Tuesday.

Goldschmidt was responsible for most of the Cardinals' production in a lopsided defeat. He extended his hit streak to five and has reached base safely in 14 straight games. Goldschmidt will carry a .314 average into a Wednesday doubleheader.

  • Kole Calhoun 1B | CLE

Diamondbacks' Kole Calhoun: Clobbers former team

Calhoun went 3-for-5 with a pair of home runs and five RBI against the Angels on Tuesday.

Calhoun, who played for the Angels from 2012-2019, hit a two-run home run in his first at-bat as a visitor at Angel Stadium in the first inning. He followed that with a three-run shot in the third inning to account for a season-high five RBI. Despite hitting only .209 this season, Calhoun has provided a much-needed power bat for Arizona, pacing the team with 11 home runs and ranking second with 29 RBI.

  • Rhys Hoskins 1B | CLE

Phillies' Rhys Hoskins: May need surgery

Hoskins (elbow) will visit a doctor Tuesday and could wind up requiring Tommy John surgery, Meghan Montemurro of The Athletic reports.

Hoskins landed on the 10-day injured list Monday with a UCL injury in his left arm, and the issue is potentially quite serious. If he does undergo the surgery, he'd be shut down for the year, though Tommy John recovery doesn't take nearly as long for hitters as for pitchers, so he'd have a shot to be ready by Opening Day next season.

  • Josh Bell DH | MIN

Pirates' Josh Bell: Strong stretch continues Monday

Bell went 2-for-6 with a walk and his seventh homer in Monday's doubleheader loss to the Reds.

He's hit three home runs in his last five games. The 28-year-old has also lifted his batting average to .242, the highest its been since Opening Day. Bell is slashing .464/.516/.821 during an eight-game batting streak covering his last 32 plate appearances. He's 6-for-18 with a double and a homer against Tuesday's starter, Michael Lorenzen.

  • Braves' Freddie Freeman: Stays hot with homer

Freeman went 2-for-3 with a solo home run in Monday's 14-1 loss to Baltimore.

Atlanta was already down 13-0 when Freeman launched a solo shot in the sixth inning, but at least it prevented the shutout. The 31-year-old slugger is on an absolute heater right now, collecting multiple hits in six of his last seven games. He's up to 11 long balls and 44 RBI alongside a stellar 1.105 OPS for the season.

  • Rhys Hoskins 1B | CLE

Phillies' Rhys Hoskins: Moved to IL

Hoskins was placed on the 10-day injured list Monday due to an ulnar collatoral ligament injury in his left arm, Matt Gelb of The Athletic reports.

Hoskins had been considered day-to-day after his X-ray came back negative, but the team has elected to place him on the injured list after uncovering the UCL injury. With Jay Bruce (quadriceps) also on the injured list, Phil Gosselin is expected to see more time at first base.

  • Rhys Hoskins 1B | CLE

Phillies' Rhys Hoskins: Not in Monday's lineup

Hoskins (hip) will not start Monday's game against the Marlins.

Hoskins missed both halves of Sunday's doubleheader with a wrist injury and was sent for an MRI. The results of the test have not yet been made public, but he's evidently not been cleared to return to action. Phil Gosselin will be the first baseman in his absence.

  • Joey Votto 1B | TOR

Reds' Joey Votto: Drops in batting order

Votto will start at first base and bat third in the first game of Monday's doubleheader with the Pirates.

After serving as the Reds' leadoff man in 21 straight starts, Votto will now bat out of the three hole for the fourth straight contest. Shogo Akiyama will again get another look atop the order, but the drop to third in the order shouldn't hurt Votto too much from a run-scoring standpoint. As the leadoff man, Votto only crossed the plate 11 times in those 21 games.
