  • Mets' Wilmer Flores: Belts eighth homer of year Thursday

Flores went 1-for-2 with a three-run homer and a walk Thursday against the Nationals.

Flores entered the game in the fifth inning as part of a double switch, and promptly launched his eighth homer of the year to erase a two-run deficit in a game the Mets would win. He's now blasted five bombs over his last five contests, and he's slashing .259/.318/.451 on the season.

  • Mets' Asdrubal Cabrera: Returns to lineup Thursday

Cabrera (undisclosed) is back in the lineup for Thursday's game against the Nationals.

After being scratched from Wednesday's lineup to tend to a family matter, Cabrera draws back into the order for Thursday's series opener against the division rival Nationals. He'll take over at shortstop and bat sixth in the order against Washington rookie Lucas Giolito.

  • Tommy Joseph 1B | TEX

Phillies' Tommy Joseph: Out of lineup Thursday

Joseph is out of the lineup for Thursday's contest with Colorado, Todd Zolecki of MLB.com reports.

Joseph will get his second game off over the Phillies last six as Ryan Howard gets the nod at first base and bats sixth. Joseph has gone 5-for-11 over the last three games following an 0-for-16 stretch before that. He'll likely be back in the lineup Friday as the Phillies face Jon Gray and the Rockies.

  • Mets' Wilmer Flores: Out of lineup Thursday

Flores is not in the lineup for Thursday's matchup with Washington, Anthony DiComo of MLB.com reports.

Flores will get a maintenance day, having started the Mets' last seven games, as Jose Reyes makes a start at third base and bats leadoff. Flores was highly productive during the seven-game stretch, homering four times and collecting seven runs and RBI apiece.

  • Justin Bour 1B | SF

Marlins' Justin Bour: MRI results negative on injured ankle

The MRI on Bour's ankle came back negative, MLB.com reports, but the team decided to place him on the 15-day disabled list rather than allow him to play through the injury.

With the All-Star break right around the corner the Marlins are taking an understandably conservative route with their emerging slugger, giving him an extended break to get back to full strength. Bour started the year slowly but is now up to 15 home runs and 46 RBI to go along with a .268/.347/.526 slash line over 213 at-bats. He's eligible to return to the active roster on July 18. Platoon-mate Chris Johnson and recently recalled Don Kelly should get most of the playing time at first base while Bour is sidelined.

  • Dodgers' O'Koyea Dickson: .338/.393/.621 for Triple-A Oklahoma City

Dickson is batting .338/.393/.621 in 145 at-bats for Triple-A Oklahoma City.

He's missed time with injuries, but when he's been in the lineup, Dickson has been obviously doing quite well. At 26, he's probably a Quadruple-A hitter, but he could get a cup of coffee in the big leagues at some point this year.

  • Mets' Wilmer Flores: Records another multi-homer game versus Marlins

Flores went 2-for-4 with a pair of home runs in the 4-2 victory over the Marlins on Wednesday.

It was his second multi-homer game of this week, and since July 3, Flores is 9-for-17 (.529) with four homers, seven RBI and six runs. His batting average is up over 30 points (.256) due to the short hot streak. He now also has seven homers.

  • Mets' Asdrubal Cabrera: Out of lineup for personal matters

Cabrera was scratched from Wednesday's lineup after a family illness kept him from sleeping Tuesday night, Marc Carig of Newsday reports.

Cabrera's absence from the lineup is not related to his recent knee injury, so he should return to the lineup in the coming days. The Mets opted to play Jose Reyes at shortstop Wednesday, so he is presumably second on the depth chart behind Cabrera at this point.

  • Mets' Asdrubal Cabrera: Late scratch Wednesday

Cabrera has been scratched from Wednesday's lineup, the Star-Ledger's Maria Guardado reports.

He will be replaced at shortstop by Jose Reyes, with James Loney coming in to play first and Wilmer Flores sliding to third base. Cabrera had just returned from a knee injury on Monday, so this is presumably related to that ailment. We will update his status when the team provides a reason for his absence.

  • Andy Wilkins 1B | MIN

Brewers' Andy Wilkins: Called up by Brewers

Wilkins was recalled from Triple-A Colorado Springs on Wednesday, Fox Sports Wisconsin reports.

With a team day off Thursday and the All-Star break on tap, the Brewers elected to add Wilkins to serve as an extra bat off the bench. He's played both first base and outfield so far in the minors this season, posting a .757 OPS for Colorado Springs over 76 games.
