Busch is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Giants.

Justin Turner will pick up the start at first base in place of Busch as the Cubs go with an extra right-handed bat to counter Giants southpaw Robbie Ray. Busch has logged 19 plate appearances against lefties this season and is batting .188 with one extra-base hit (a double) in those matchups.

Triolo is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Cardinals.

After making starts at either middle-infield spot in each of the last eight games, Triolo will take a seat for the series finale in St. Louis. Triolo could continue to serve as the Pirates' primary shortstop until Isiah Kiner-Falefa (hamstring) is cleared to return from the injured list, but Liover Peguero gets the nod Wednesday.

Freeman went 2-for-4 with a solo home run, an additional RBI and a walk in an extra-inning loss to Miami on Tuesday.

Freeman twice gave the Dodgers a lead in the contest -- he plated a run with a single in the first inning and belted a 405-foot solo shot to center field in the sixth. The star first baseman not only has an 11-game hitting streak going, he's also tallied multiple hits in seven of those contests and is slashing a scorching .452/.531/.810 with four home runs, 14 RBI, 10 runs and a 7:6 BB:K during that span. Freeman missed some time earlier in the season due to an ankle injury and doesn't have enough plate appearances to qualify for the batting-average leaderboard, but if he did he'd be leading the National League with a .344 mark.

Bauers went 1-for-2 with a two-run homer in Tuesday's win over the Astros.

Bauers got his day started with a two-run shot to center field in the first inning to extend the Brewers' lead to 4-0. He's now plated half his runs for the season in his last five games and owns a .358 on-base percentage in 55 plate appearances.

Eldridge is slashing .316/.395/.474 with one home run, a 9.3 percent walk rate and a 34.9 percent strikeout rate in 10 games for Double-A Richmond.

He is in the midst of a seven-game hit streak. Eldridge spent the bulk of 2024 in the lower levels before getting nine games at Double-A and eight games at Triple-A to close the year. He was sent back to Double-A after dealing with a wrist injury for much of spring and made his season debut April 22. Eldridge will need to get his strikeout rate into a manageable range before getting the bump to Triple-A.

Freeman went 2-for-5 with a two-run home run in Monday's 7-4 win against Miami.

Freeman belted a two-run shot to center field in the third inning to give the Dodgers a 3-0 lead. The veteran first baseman has hit safely in 10 straight games and is batting a sizzling .447 (17-for-38) with three homers and 12 RBI during that span. The hot streak has pushed Freeman's season batting average to .337, which would be fifth-highest in the majors if Freeman had enough plate appearances to qualify.

Contreras went 2-for-4 with a two-run home run in a 6-3 win against Pittsburgh on Monday.

Contreras turned the game around for St. Louis in the sixth inning, slugging a two-run homer to give the team a lead that it didn't relinquish. After a slow start to the season, the catcher-turned-first-baseman has been heating up lately, notching multiple hits in four of his past six games. Over that span, Contreras is batting .455 (10-for-22) with three home runs and 10 RBI.

Alonso went 2-for-4 with a two-run home run in Monday's 5-4 win over the Diamondbacks.

Alonso has five multi-hit efforts over his last eight games, a span that has seen him rack up three homers, seven RBI and nine runs scored. The first baseman has yet to go more than two games in a row without a hit, which is some impressive consistency, especially since he's never hit higher than .271 over a full season. Alonso is batting .349 with a 1.143 OPS, nine long balls, 33 RBI, 26 runs scored, 13 doubles, one triple and no stolen bases over 36 contests. In addition to his efficient contact, he's walking at a career-high rate (15.6 percent) and striking out at a career-low clip (15.0 percent).

Olson went 1-for-3 with a two-run homer and a walk in Monday's 4-0 win against Cincinnati.

Olson was credited with an inside-the-park homer in the third inning when Tyler Callihan injured himself attempting to catch a flyball in the left-field corner. The Atlanta first baseman has been a walk machine over his last 10 games, drawing 10 walks while posting a .378 OBP and nine runs scored. Overall, Olson is now slashing .225/.372/.417 across 148 plate appearances.

Schmitt (oblique) has begun baseball activities, Justice delos Santos of The San Jose Mercury News reports.

Schmitt is more than two weeks removed from suffering a Grade 2 left oblique strain but has been cleared to start ramping things up. The expectation when Schmitt went down was that he would miss around a month of action, so he's still got a couple weeks go go and will likely require a rehab assignment.
