  • Josh Bell DH | MIN

Nationals' Josh Bell: Not in Saturday's lineup

Bell isn't starting Saturday against the Cubs, Matt Weyrich of NBC Sports Washington reports.

Bell hit a solo home run in Friday's win over the Cubs, but he'll get a breather for the second game of the series. Ryan Zimmerman will start at first base and bat third.

  • Diamondbacks' Christian Walker: Day off Saturday

Walker will sit Saturday against the Dodgers.

Walker owns a modest .709 OPS thus far in the second half, though that's at least better than the .620 OPS he managed prior to the break. Asdrubal Cabrera slides to first base in his absence, with Drew Ellis starting at third.

  • Rhys Hoskins 1B | CLE

Phillies' Rhys Hoskins: Out again Saturday

Hoskins (groin) is not in the lineup for Saturday's game against the Pirates.

Hoskins will miss his second straight game with a left groin injury, which he suffered during Thursday's doubleheader. He should be considered day-to-day until further notice. Brad Miller is starting at first base and batting fifth Saturday.

  • Cardinals' Paul Goldschmidt: On base thrice in win

Goldschmidt went 2-for-3 with a double, a walk and two runs in a win over the Twins on Friday.

Goldschmidt appears primed to wrap up July the same way he started, as he owns a .351/.425/.606 slash line with six doubles, six home runs and 14 RBI across his last 23 games following Friday's multi-hit effort. The performance marked Goldschmidt's third two-hit tally in the last six games alone and pushed his season slash line to an impressive .272/.342/.454 (433 plate appearances).

  • LaMonte Wade 1B | CHW

Giants' LaMonte Wade: Back in lineup

Wade (lower leg) will lead off and play left field Saturday against Houston, Alex Pavlovic of NBC Sports Bay Area reports.

Wade had been out of the starting lineup since Tuesday while dealing with a bruised lower leg, though he'd appeared off the bench in three straight games. He'll be involved from the start this time around and will look to continue his strong second half, which has already seen him homer five times in 39 trips to the plate.

  • Josh Bell DH | MIN

Nationals' Josh Bell: Blasts home run Friday

Bell went 1-for-3 with a solo home run, a walk and a strikeout in Friday's 4-3 win over the Cubs.

Bell got a breather in the second game of Thursday's doubleheader in Philadelphia, but he smacked his 17th home run of the season in his return to the lineup. Across 14 games since the All-Star break, the 28-year-old has slashed .250/.294/.604 with five home runs, 10 RBI and six runs.

  • Jose Abreu 1B | HOU

White Sox's Jose Abreu: Plunked twice, stays in game

Abreu went 0-for-2 with a walk, was twice hit by pitches and had an RBI in Friday's 6-4 win over Cleveland.

The most serious of the two HBP happened in the eighth inning when a James Karinchak fastball hit Abreu on the helmet. Both benches emptied in a non-violent confrontation, and Abreu stayed in the game. He had returned to the lineup Friday after missing one game due to a stiff neck.

  • Joey Votto 1B | TOR

Reds' Joey Votto: Extends homer streak to seven

Votto went 1-for-4 with a walk and a solo home run in Friday's 6-2 win over the Mets.

The veteran continues to mash, homering for the seventh straight game by taking Drew Smith deep in the sixth inning. Votto is now one game short of tying the major-league record held by three players -- a club most recently joined in 1993 by Ken Griffey Jr. On the season, Votto is slashing .278/.374/.563 with 21 home runs and 59 RBI through 75 contests.

  • Diamondbacks' Asdrubal Cabrera: Still a Diamondback

Cabrera started at third base and went 2-for-3 with three walks and two RBI in Friday's 6-5 extra-inning win over the Dodgers.

Cabrera was a prime candidate to be traded, but the 36-year-old infielder remained with Arizona past Friday's trade deadline. Manager Torey Lovullo managed Cabrera's starting assignments earlier in the season, never letting him start more than two consecutive games, but Cabrera has started four straight and appeared in all five games since coming off the injured list. After the Diamondbacks traded Eduardo Escobar to the Brewers, Cabrera could be a regular at third base. The Escobar trade coupled with Josh Rojas' finger injury presents opportunities for the veteran.

  • Orioles' Ryan Mountcastle: Clubs 17th homer

Mountcastle went 1-for-4 with a solo home run in Friday's 4-3 win over the Tigers.

He took Tarik Skubal deep in the fourth inning, one of three O's homers off the young southpaw. Mountcastle is up to 17 home runs on the year, but he's stumbled to a rough .182/.224/.432 slash line in 12 games since the All-Star break.
