  • Alex Kirilloff LF | MIN

Twins' Alex Kirilloff: Undergoes successful surgery

Kirilloff underwent successful surgery on his right wrist Friday, Do-Hyoung Park of MLB.com reports.

Kirilloff's procedure didn't reveal anything concerning, and he'll head to Florida soon to begin his recovery process. The 23-year-old is expected to require eight weeks of rehab after his procedure, meaning he would miss the remainder of the 2021 season.

  • Giants' Wilmer Flores: Not starting Friday

Flores isn't starting Friday against the Pirates.

Flores had recorded hits in each of the last four games, and he went 4-for-16 with two home runs, a double, four runs and three RBI during that time. Jason Vosler will step in at third base and bat sixth.

  • Chris Gittens 1B | HOU

Yankees' Chris Gittens: Ready to go Friday

Gittens (Achilles) is starting at first base and batting seventh Friday against the Red Sox.

Gittens was held out of the starting nine the past three games with Achilles soreness, but he'll rejoin the lineup Friday. The 27-year-old is 1-for-8 with three walks in four games since rejoining the big-league roster.

  • Alec Bohm 3B | PHI

Phillies' Alec Bohm: Back in action

Bohm was reinstated from the COVID-19 injured list Friday.

Bohm has been out since testing positive for coronavirus on the final day of the first half, though he was reportedly asymptomatic. He's been deemed ready to go after playing in a single rehab game for Triple-A Lehigh Valley. The Phillies will hope his second half is better than his first, as he's hit just .243/.298/.343 this season after slashing .338/.400/.481 in his 44-game debut last year. Mauricio Llovera was optioned in a corresponding move.

  • LaMonte Wade 1B | CHW

Giants' LaMonte Wade: Plates two runs Thursday

Wade went 2-for-5 with a double, two RBI, a run scored and a stolen base in Thursday's win over the Dodgers.

Wade plated two of the Giants' five runs in this game with a two-run single in the top of the ninth, and that knock proved to be decisive since it was the hit that broke the 3-3 tie. The outfielder has been struggling to produce of late with a .211 average this month, but he might be on the verge of turning things around after recording hits in three of his last four games.

  • Braves' Freddie Freeman: On base four times Thursday

Freeman went 2-for-3 with two walks, a run scored and a stolen base in Thursday's win over the Phillies.

The first baseman has reached base safely in 10 straight games, slashing a mammoth .447/.511/.868 over that stretch. Freeman was hitting below .250 as late as June 22 with an .804 OPS, but he's added more than 100 points to the latter mark in the weeks since and is now batting .287 on the year with 22 homers, six steals, 55 RBI and 67 runs through 95 games.

  • Yandy Diaz DH | TB

Rays' Yandy Diaz: Monster performance in win

Diaz (neck) went 4-for-5 with a solo home run, a triple and an additional run scored in Thursday's 5-4 extra-inning win over Cleveland.

Diaz was held out of the lineup for two days with neck spasms earlier this week, but he made his presence felt in his return. The 29-year-old played a key role in Tampa Bay's comeback, getting them within a run with his ninth-inning solo shot. The infielder is now slashing .261/.378/.366 with six homers, 33 RBI and 39 runs scored through 339 plate appearances. His triple was his first since the 2019 season.

  • Austin Listi 1B | PHI

    Austin Listi: Dumped by Phillies

Listi was released by the Phillies on Thursday, Andersen Pickard of MLBDailyDish.com reports.

Listi was picked 503rd overall in the 2017 draft, but showed some promise in the lower levels of the minors. He was named the top hitter in the Phillies minor-league system in 2017, when he hit .312/.412/.502 across 123 games between High-A and Double-A. However, he stalled out at Triple-A Lehigh Valley in 2021, as he managed only a .221/.299/.274 line across 214 plate appearances.

  • Chris Gittens 1B | HOU

Yankees' Chris Gittens: Sitting again with injury

Gittens (Achilles) is out of the lineup for Thursday's game against the Red Sox.

Gittens remains day-to-day with a sore Achilles, which is keeping him on the bench for the third game in a row. DJ LeMahieu picks up another start at first base in Gittens' stead.

  • Alec Bohm 3B | PHI

Phillies' Alec Bohm: Heading on rehab assignment

Phillies manager Joe Girardi said Thursday that Bohm (illness) will go on a rehab assignment at Triple-A Lehigh Valley for the next couple of days before being reinstated from the COVID-19 injured list, Matt Breen of The Philadelphia Inquirer reports.

Bohm rejoined the team earlier this week and appears to have cleared MLB's health and safety protocols, but he'll need at least two rehab games to get his conditioning in order after testing positive for the virus. Assuming Bohm gets the green light to return from the IL this weekend, he should immediately reclaim everyday duties at third base from Ronald Torreyes.
