White Sox's Jose Abreu: X-rays come back negative

Abreu has been diagnosed with a bruised left knee after X-rays came back negative following his exit from Sunday's game against Seattle.

Abreu could not put any weight on his left leg after being hit by a pitch and exiting in the bottom of the sixth inning. The slugger appears to have avoided an injury that would require an extended absence, though it wouldn't be surprising if he's forced to miss a few games. He's considered day-to-day.

  • Josh Naylor 1B | SEA

Indians' Josh Naylor: Carted off with apparent leg injury

Naylor was carted off after appearing to suffer a leg injury while colliding with Ernie Clement during Sunday's game against Minnesota, Mandy Bell of MLB.com reports.

It looks like a serious injury for Naylor, given that he was taken off on a cart after rolling around on the ground in pain. Cleveland will likely provide a further update later Sunday, but Naylor seems almost certain to miss substantial time.

White Sox's Jose Abreu: Exits after being hit on knee

Abreu could not put weight on his left leg and needed to be helped off the field after being hit by a pitch on the knee during Sunday's game against Seattle, James Fegan of The Athletic reports. Andrew Vaughn replaced him as a pinch runner and figures to stay in the game at first base.

This is obviously a terrible sight for the already injury-riddled White Sox. The club should provide further update later Sunday, but at this point it wouldn't be surprising if Abreu is forced to sit at least the next few days.

  • Dominic Smith 1B | ATL

Mets' Dominic Smith: On bench Sunday

Smith is not in the lineup Sunday against the Phillies.

Smith is 5-for-21 and is without an extra-base hit over his past six games, and he'll head to the bench Sunday. Billy McKinney will start in left field in his place.

  • Bobby Dalbec 1B | CHW

Red Sox's Bobby Dalbec: Back on bench Sunday

Dalbec is not in the starting lineup Sunday against the Yankees, Christopher Smith of The Springfield Republican reports.

Dalbec will sit for the second time in three games as Danny Santana takes over at first base against Gerrit Cole. Dalbec is hitless across his last 17 at-bats dating back to June 20.

  • Alex Kirilloff LF | MIN

    Twins' Alex Kirilloff: Sitting Sunday

Kirilloff is not in the starting lineup Sunday against Cleveland.

Kirilloff was absent from Saturday's lineup before the game got postponed due to rain, and he remains out of the starting nine Sunday with lefty Sam Hentges' start getting pushed back one day. Miguel Sano will play first base and bat sixth.

  • Yuli Gurriel DH | SD

Astros' Yuli Gurriel: Extends hit streak

Gurriel went 2-for-3 with a run scored in a 3-1 loss to Detroit in the matinee of Saturday's doubleheader.

Gurriel had two of Houston's six hits and scored the team's lone run in a loss that snapped an 11-game winning streak. He suited up for the nightcap as well, singling in three at-bats. With hits in both ends of the twin bill, Gurriel extended his hit streak to 10 games, during which he's gone 16-for-35 (.457) with a .961 OPS.

  • Kole Calhoun 1B | CLE

Diamondbacks' Kole Calhoun: Progressing in rehab

Calhoun (hamstring) is running out of the batter's box during at-bats taken at the team's training site, Nick Piecoro of the Arizona Republic reports.

Calhoun is preparing to head out on a rehab assignment which will be "coming soon," per manager Torey Lovullo. The 33-year-old outfielder will need a few games in the minors before rejoining the major-league club.

  • Donovan Solano 1B | TEX

Giants' Donovan Solano: Lines third homer

Solano went 2-for-4 with a solo home run and a walk as San Francisco defeated Oakland 6-5 on Saturday.

Solano singled in the second, walked in the sixth and homered in the eighth off Oakland reliever Jake Diekman to tie the game 4-4. The veteran infielder now has multiple hits in three of his last five games and is slashing a respectable .272/.324/.386 in 49 games.

  • LaMonte Wade 1B | CHW

Giants' LaMonte Wade: Smashes fifth homer

Wade went 2-for-4 with a two-run home run, an additional run and a walk in a 6-5 victory against the A's on Saturday.

Wade blasted a two-run homer to right off A's starter Frankie Montas in the fifth to get San Francisco on the board, walked and scored in the seventh, and singled in the ninth to reach base three times for the fourth time this season. He started for the first time since being recalled from Triple-A on Friday and looks to see decent run with a strong .273/.354/.500 slash line and Brandon Belt on the IL.
