Anthony Rizzo 1B | NYY
Cubs' Anthony Rizzo: Remains sidelined
Rizzo (back) will remain on the bench for Friday's game against the Reds.
Rizzo finds himself sitting for the third straight game due to back stiffness. He didn't appear off the bench in either of the last two, so it's unclear whether or not he'll be available Friday. Kris Bryant remains the starter at first base in his absence.

Ryan O'Hearn RF | PIT
Royals' Ryan O'Hearn: Homers off bench
O'Hearn went 1-for-2 with a two-run home run in Thursday's 7-2 loss to Tampa Bay.
With Kansas City trailing 7-0 after four innings, manager Mike Matheny turned to his bench. O'Hearn replaced Carlos Santana at first base, and the former ended up providing the team's only offense Thursday. The 27-year-old has three homers, six RBI and six runs scored in 57 plate appearances this year. O'Hearn isn't likely to displace Santana or Jorge Soler from the lineup, so he'll remain in a bench role.

Donovan Solano 1B | TEX
Giants' Donovan Solano: Laces first home run
Solano went 1-for-4 with a two-run home run and two strikeouts in the Giants' 4-3 loss to the Dodgers on Thursday.
Solano knotted the score at three with his sixth inning shot off reliever Victor Gonzalez but was not productive in his other at-bats. The power was a welcome sight but Solano has only 17 career home runs in eight seasons, though his .268 average stands to improve as he's hit .326 and .330 in his prior two seasons with San Francisco.

Garrett Cooper 1B | ATL
Marlins' Garrett Cooper: Pinch hits on Thursday
Cooper (oblique) was able to pinch hit Thursday and had an RBI single, staying in the game and playing an inning in right field.
It seems as if all is well for Cooper, but the Marlins were also playing short-handed Thursday after multiple injuries this week, culminating in catcher Jorge Alfaro having to play in the outfield at the end of the game. They're likely to get Starling Marte back over the weekend, which will ease some of the pressure on the lineup, including potentially giving Cooper another day to rest if needed.

Evan White 1B | LAA
Mariners' Evan White: Resumes baseball activities
White (hip) will resume baseball activities Thursday, Ryan Divish of The Seattle Times reports.
White has been on the injured list since May 14 due to a hip flexor issue, but he'll participate in some cage work Thursday. A timetable for his return to game action hasn't yet been established, but it's encouraging to see him resume activities.

LaMonte Wade 1B | CHW
Giants' LaMonte Wade: Recalled by Giants
Wade was recalled by the Giants on Thursday, Susan Slusser of the San Francisco Chronicle reports.
Wade will take the roster spot of Darin Ruf (hamstring), who was placed on the 10-day injured list. Wade has 12 plate appearances with the Giants this season, though the majority of his time has come at Triple-A Sacramento where he has hit .233/.411/.419 across 56 plate appearances.

Matt Beaty 1B | KC
Dodgers' Matt Beaty: Retreats to bench
Beaty isn't starting Thursday's game against San Francisco, Juan Toribio of MLB.com reports.
Beaty went 2-for-14 with a double, three runs, three RBI and two walks across the last four games. Sheldon Neuse will take over in left field and bat seventh.

Ryan Mountcastle 1B | BAL
Orioles' Ryan Mountcastle: Remains out of lineup
Mountcastle (hand) isn't starting Thursday's game against the White Sox, Roch Kubatko of MASNSports.com reports.
Mountcastle will miss a second straight game due to a bruised left hand. However, he'll take swings in the batting cage Thursday and could be available off the bench if needed, Roch Kubatko of MASNSports.com reports. Anthony Santander will serve as the designated hitter while DJ Stewart starts in right field.

Rhys Hoskins 1B | CLE
Phillies' Rhys Hoskins: Belts 11th homer
Hoskins went 1-for-3 with a solo home run and a walk during Thursday's win over the Marlins.
Hoskins got the scoring started by cranking his 11th long ball of the season, this time a solo shot against Pablo Lopez in the fourth inning. Now batting .266/.341/.505 on the year, Hoskins leads the Phillies in hits (50), RBI (31) and home runs (11).

Dominic Smith DH | ATL
Mets' Dominic Smith: Back in action
Smith (knee) will return to the lineup to play left field for the second game of Thursday's doubleheader against Colorado, Tim Britton of The Athletic reports.
Smith will wind up missing two games with a minor knee issue. The beat-up Mets can't afford any more injuries, so they'll be happy to see Smith back in the lineup even if he's hitting just .245/.301/.322 on the year.
