  • Matt Beaty 1B | KC

Dodgers' Matt Beaty: Takes seat after big weekend

Beaty is out of the lineup for the first game of Tuesday's doubleheader with the Cubs.

Beaty will head to the bench after starting each of the final three games of the Dodgers' weekend series in Milwaukee. He turned in a career day in Sunday's 16-4 win, going 4-for-6 with a home run, seven RBI and three runs. The 28-year-old may have earned himself some extra opportunities on the back of his huge performance, but he'll still remain without a clear path to an everyday spot in the Los Angeles lineup. AJ Pollock, Chris Taylor and Mookie Betts should be locked in as the Dodgers' primary outfielders while Cody Bellinger (lower leg) and Zach McKinstry (oblique) are on the injured list.

  • Nate Lowe DH | CIN

Rangers' Nate Lowe: Shows off wheels

Lowe went 2-for-5 with a double, a stolen base and a run scored in Monday's 6-5 loss to the Twins.

Lowe's not known for his speed, but he's now stolen bases in back-to-back games and is up to four thefts in 2021. He had one steal in the majors prior to this season and four across four minor-league seasons.

  • Josh Naylor 1B | SEA

Indians' Josh Naylor: Clubs first homer

Naylor went 2-for-4 with a walk, a double, a home run and three RBI in Monday's 8-6 win over the Royals.

His two-run blast off Jakob Junis in the seventh inning proved to be the key hit in the game, giving Cleveland an 8-3 lead. It was Naylor's first homer of the year, but the 23-year-old seems to be finding his rhythm at the plate, going 8-for-22 over the last six games with four doubles in addition to Monday's long ball.

  • Pete Alonso 1B | BAL

Mets' Pete Alonso: Three hits in Monday's loss

Alonso went 3-for-4 with a walk, two doubles and two runs scored in Monday's 6-5 loss to the Cardinals.

The third-year slugger has found a groove at the plate, putting together a five-game hit streak that includes four doubles in the last three. On the season, Alonso's hitting .282 with five homers and 16 RBI through 24 contests.

  • Blue Jays' Vladimir Guerrero: Collects three hits

Guerrero went 3-for-4 with a double and a run scored in Monday's 5-4 loss to Oakland.

Guerrero knocked a double and came around to score in the eighth to pull Toronto within a run of the Athletics. He raised his season slash line to .356/.496/.644 with 12 extra-base hits through 115 plate appearances. It was his fourth straight game scoring a run.

  • Tigers' Spencer Torkelson: Will play third in minors

Torkelson is set to play "a lot of third base" according to his manager at High-A West Michigan, Patrick Nothaft of MLive.com reports.

Torkelson primarily played first base during his college career at Arizona State, but the Tigers got him some time at third during spring training, and now it looks like that's the plan for him in the minors. The 2020 No. 1 overall pick will largely be judged by his bat during his professional career, but he'll of course need to hold his own defensively as well. If Torkelson shows some ability at both corner infield spots, it could ultimately help him advance to the majors sooner, though he's still most likely to debut in 2022.

  • Rhys Hoskins 1B | CLE

    Phillies' Rhys Hoskins: Resting Monday

Hoskins is not in the lineup for Monday's game against the Brewers.

Hoskins finds himself on the bench for just the third time this season. His .813 OPS remains strong thanks to his eight homers, but his 5.9 percent walk rate and 31.9 percent strikeout rate are both quite poor, with the former representing an especially surprising mark for a hitter with a career 14.7 percent walk rate. Brad Miller will be the first baseman in his absence.

  • Keston Hiura 2B | LAD

Brewers' Keston Hiura: Sent down by Milwaukee

Hiura was optioned to the Brewers' alternate training site Monday.

Hiura had lost out on regular playing time recently after he slashed .152/.247/.266 with a home run, five RBI and 32 strikeouts to begin the season. Daniel Vogelbach should see increased playing time at first base, while Billy McKinney could serve in a depth role. Hiura's removal from the major-league roster is part of a shuffle to make room for Christian Yelich (back) and Lorenzo Cain (quadriceps), who were reinstated from the 10-day injured list Monday.

  • Diamondbacks' Christian Walker: Comes off IL

The Diamondbacks reinstated Walker (oblique) from the 10-day injured list Monday.

Arizona will get some much-needed lineup reinforcements ahead of Tuesday's series opener in Miami with both Walker and outfielder Tim Locastro (finger) returning from the IL. Walker was sidelined for approximately three weeks with the right oblique strain, but after proving his health during simulated games, he should be ready to take over as Arizona's everyday first baseman. Pavin Smith will likely see more time in the corner outfield as a result.

  • Alex Kirilloff LF | MIN

Twins' Alex Kirilloff: Continues power binge

Kirilloff went 1-for-4 with a home run and four RBI in Sunday's 13-4 win over the Royals.

Kirilloff's three-run blast off reliever Jake Newberry in the eighth inning put the finishing touches on the series win for the Twins. The home run was the four of the weekend for Kirilloff, who had gone 3-for-26 with one extra-base hit (a double) over his first eight games of the season. Though the rookie's power binge is a welcome sight for fantasy managers, it's worth noting that he had no other hits in his 12 at-bats this weekend beyond the home runs, and he posted a 1:6 BB:K in the series. He's now sporting a .184 average, .200 on-base percentage, 2.6 percent walk rate and 30 percent strikeout rate on the season.
