Indians shortstop Asdrubal Cabrera underwent an MRI on his injured left knee, which came back negative, the Plain Dealer reports.

Cabrera took a pitch off the knee Wednesday and left the game Thursday night against the Orioles when it became sore. He is not in the starting lineup Friday and remains uncertain for Saturday in Baltimore.

Cubs first baseman Anthony Rizzo broke an 0-for-10 hitless streak Thursday night - and he did so in style.

Rizzo slugged a two-run homer in the fourth inning to overcome a 1-0 deficit and jump-start his team in a win over host San Diego. He added a double in the eighth that sweetened his stat line to .275/.410/.463.

White Sox first baseman Jose Abreu will remain in a walking boot through the weekend, as he continues to recover from an ankle injury.

"He's here today, receiving treatment," general manager Rick Hahn told the Daily Herald Thursday. "He remains in the boot and will stay in the boot through the weekend. We'll re-evaluate next week. So far he's progressing and we continue to be optimistic about him being ready about the time the 15 days are up."

Abreu has been on the disabled list say May 18 as a result of the injury, and seems on track to return in early June. 

Mets infielder Wilmer Flores got his batting average over .300 for the first time Wednesday, in a 4-3 win over the Dodgers.

Flores strung together three singles to finish the game 3 for 4, though he did not make an impact otherwise. He is hitting .318/.400/.318 in 22 at-bats for the season. 

The Angels activated outfielder Kole Calhoun from the disabled list Wednesday.

Calhoun is batting sixth and playing right field in Wednesday's game against the Astros after missing more than a month with an ankle injury. He returns to a .250/.297/.500 line with three home runs, six RBI and two stolen bases in 60 at-bats.

The Reds have placed first baseman Joey Votto on the disabled list Wednesday.

The move is backdated to May 16, so Votto could return sooner than expected. He's been sidelined with a quad injury, and has missed five games due to the issue. Votto was expected to try and play during the team's weekend series, but that's no longer going to happen. He's hitting .257 over 136 at-bats.

Reds first baseman Joey Votto was not in the team's starting lineup Wednesday against the Nationals.

The move was expected, as Votto is aiming to return for the weekend series. He's dealing with a quad injury, but the team doesn't believe he'll need a stint on the disabled list. Votto is hitting .257 over 136 at-bats.

Reds manager Bryan Price said Tuesday he was "optimistic" first baseman Joey Votto (quadriceps) could return to the lineup when the team returns home for a three-game series against the Cardinals, which starts Friday, per the Cincinnati Enquirer.

Angels outfielder Kole Calhoun could be activated from the disabled list Wednesday, according to MLB.com.

Calhoun is dealing with an ankle injury, but has been playing rehab games in the minors. He was a candidate to be activated Tuesday, but was still listed on the Triple-A roster. Calhoun hit .260 over 60 at-bats before the injury.
