  • Zach Dezenzo SS | HOU

Astros' Zach Dezenzo: Crushes first career homer

Dezenzo went 2-for-4 with a solo home run in Saturday's 5-4 win over the Red Sox.

Dezenzo's first major-league homer was a 437-foot bomb off Zack Kelly in the eighth inning. Since being promoted Aug. 6, the rookie has started three games at first base and one at designated hitter. He has reached base six times with two extra-base hits and appears to be getting a legitimate chance to receive consistent playing time moving forward.

  • Orioles' Ryan Mountcastle: Drives in three in win

Mountcastle went 3-for-5 with three RBI in Saturday's 7-5 win over the Rays.

Mountcastle had a two-run single in the first inning and knocked in an insurance run with another single in the eighth. This was the first baseman's first multi-hit effort in August, though he's now hit safely in six straight games. For the year, he's up to a .273/.312/.438 slash line, 13 home runs, 59 RBI, 50 runs scored and three stolen bases over 442 plate appearances. He will continue to see most of the playing time at first base, with Ryan O'Hearn filling in there whenever Mountcastle needs a day off.

  • Ben Rice 1B | NYY

Yankees' Ben Rice: Resting during nightcap

Rice isn't in the Yankees' lineup for the second game of Saturday's doubleheader versus Texas.

After a 1-for-4 performance during Game 1, Rice will take a seat on the bench to start Saturday's final game. While he rests, DJ LeMahieu will handle first base and bat ninth.

  • Nolan Schanuel 1B | LAA

    Angels' Nolan Schanuel: Idle Saturday

Schanuel isn't in the Angels' lineup Saturday versus the Nationals, Jeff Fletcher of The Orange County Register reports.

Schanuel will get a chance to regroup after going 0-for-5 with two strikeouts in Friday's contest. Brandon Drury will move to first base while Schanuel sits, allowing Michael Stefanic to start at the keystone.

  • Jake Bauers RF | MIL

    Brewers' Jake Bauers: Sitting Saturday

Bauers is not in the starting lineup for Saturday's game against the Reds.

Despite Cincinnati sending right-hander Nick Martinez to the mound, the lefty-hitting Bauers will begin Saturday's contest in the dugout. Rhys Hoskins will shift to first base while Gary Sanchez serves as the designated hitter.

  • Triston Casas 1B | BOS

Red Sox's Triston Casas: Not expected back during homestand

Manager Alex Cora said Saturday that Casas (ribs) likely won't return from the 60-day injured list before the Red Sox's homestand ends Wednesday, Gabrielle Starr of the Boston Herald reports.

Casas seems to have physically recovered from the cartilage tear in his ribcage that forced him onto the injured list in April, but he'll remain at Triple-A Worcester for the next several days in order to continue working on his timing at the plate. However, his rehab assignment is set to expire next week, so he should be activated off the 60-day IL sometime during Boston's road series in Baltimore that begins Friday.

  • LaMonte Wade 1B | CHW

    Giants' LaMonte Wade: Resting Saturday

Wade isn't in the Giants' lineup for Saturday's game versus Detroit, Susan Slusser of the San Francisco Chronicle reports.

Wade will get a chance to regroup Saturday after going 5-for-24 with a home run since the start of August. While he rests, Mark Canha will get the starting nod at first base and bat sixth.

  • Astros' Jon Singleton: Sitting down Saturday

Singleton isn't in the Astros' lineup for Saturday's game against Boston, Matt Kawahara of the Houston Chronicle reports.

Singleton will get a breather Saturday after going 2-for-5 with an RBI during Friday's win. Zach Dezenzo will fill in as Houston's first baseman and bat seventh.

  • Tyler Nevin 3B | ATH

Athletics' Tyler Nevin: Back in lineup

Nevin (migraine) will start at first base and bat eighth Saturday versus the Blue Jays.

Migraines have prevented Nevin from playing in Oakland's last two games, but he seems to be feeling better ahead of Saturday's contest. The 27-year-old has slashed .188/.333/.313 across 21 plate appearances since the All-Star break.

  • Josh Naylor 1B | SEA

Guardians' Josh Naylor: Delivers only offense in nightcap

Naylor went 1-for-4 with a three-run home run in a 6-3 loss to the Twins during the second game of Friday's doubleheader.

Naylor put the Guardians ahead 3-2 in the fifth inning, but Minnesota shot right back with a Matt Wallner three-run blast in the bottom of the frame. In the matinee, a 4-2 loss for Cleveland, Naylor was 0-for-4 with two strikeouts. The first baseman has four homers and 12 RBI over his last 10 games, going 10-for-38 (.263) in that span. Overall, he has 26 homers, 85 RBI, 66 runs scored, 18 doubles, five stolen bases and a .243/.322/.484 slash line through 108 games this season.
