Braves' Matt Olson: Continues power surge

Olson went 1-for-2 with a home run, two walks and two RBI in Sunday's 5-3 win over the Mets.

Olson went yard in all three contests of Atlanta's series with New York, giving him five long balls in his last six games. After a rough first three and a half weeks of September, Olson closed the month on a hot note and has carried over that success to early October. He secured the third 30-homer campaign in the process and now sits at 33 heading into Atlanta's final series of the regular season in Miami this week.

  • Royals' Vinnie Pasquantino: Gets aboard four times

Pasquantino went 3-for-4 with a walk, an RBI and a run scored in Sunday's 7-5 loss to the Guardians.

Over his last 14 games, Pasquantino has produced eight multi-hit efforts while going hitless only once. However, he hadn't driven in a run for five games prior to Sunday. The rookie first baseman's impressive surge of late has lifted his season slash line to .291/.381/.441 with nine home runs, 25 RBI, 23 runs scored and 10 doubles through 286 plate appearances. He'll look to keep up the hot hitting with three more games against Cleveland to end the campaign.

  • Josh Naylor 1B | SEA

Guardians' Josh Naylor: Clubs homer in win

Naylor went 2-for-3 with a three-run home run in Sunday's 7-5 win over the Royals.

Naylor went yard in the second inning, and his homer gave the Guardians enough offense to withstand the Royals' pushback over the rest of the contest. Over his last eight games, Naylor's gone 6-for-30 (.200) with a homer, four RBI, three doubles and three runs scored. The 25-year-old's small slump has dropped his slash line to .254/.316/.449 with 20 long balls, 76 RBI, 46 runs scored, six stolen bases and 27 doubles in 121 games overall, and he's still seeing the majority of playing time at first base.

  • Diamondbacks' Christian Walker: Nabs rare steal

Walker went 2-for-5 with a stolen base in Sunday's 4-3 extra-inning loss to the Giants.

Walker was on the back end of a double-steal in the 10th inning, which earned him his second stolen base of the campaign. The first baseman isn't renowned for his speed, as he's produced just 12 stolen bases and five triples in his major-league career. He's been much better as a power bat this year, posting an .802 OPS, .240 batting average, 36 home runs, 93 RBI and 83 runs scored through 157 contests.

  • Carlos Santana 1B | ARI

Mariners' Carlos Santana: Productive at plate in win

Santana went 2-for-4 with an RBI single and two runs in a win over the Athletics on Saturday.

Santana provided a key early hit for the Mariners with his first-inning RBI single that plated Dylan Moore to erase an early 1-0 deficit. The veteran's ugly .196/.312/.376 slash line is naturally a concern overall, but he's now reached safely in seven of his last eight games.

  • Yandy Diaz 1B | TB

Rays' Yandy Diaz: Sitting again Sunday

Diaz is not in the lineup for Sunday's game against the Astros, Neil Solondz of the Rays Radio Network reports.

Diaz rejoined the lineup Friday after missing eight games with a shoulder injury and went 3-for-4 with a double, a walk, two RBI and two runs, but he finds himself on the bench Sunday for a second straight contest. Isaac Paredes will receive another look at the hot corner in the series finale at Houston.

  • Cardinals' Paul Goldschmidt: Gets breather Sunday

Goldschmidt is not in the lineup for Sunday's game against the Pirates.

Goldschmidt is for 2-for-5 with two doubles and two walks against opposing starter Roansy Contreras, but manager Oliver Marmol decided to hold him out with the postseason on the horizon. Albert Pujols will start at first base in Goldschmidt's place.

  • Spencer Steer 1B | CIN

Reds' Spencer Steer: Takes seat Sunday

Steer is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Cubs.

Steer started the past eight games and will head to the bench after he hit .207 with a solo home run and three additional runs scored during that stretch. Alejo Lopez will take over at the hot corner and bat seventh in Sunday's series finale.

  • Diamondbacks' Christian Walker: Three hits during win

Walker went 3-for-5 with a double, a triple, an RBI and two runs scored in Saturday's win over San Francisco.

Walker gave Arizona a 4-2 lead with an RBI double off lefty reliever Jarlin Garcia in the seventh inning in addition to a triple off righty starter Jakob Junis. The first baseman has recorded one hit or more in 13 of his last 16 games, tallying 14 RBI; however, the 31-year-old's strikeout percentage has been up, coming in at 29 percent during that span.

  • Matt Olson 1B | ATL

Braves' Matt Olson: Launches homer in win

Olson went 2-for-4 with a home run and two total RBI in Saturday's 4-2 victory over the Mets.

Olson sent Austin Riley home on a fourth-inning single, then launched a solo shot in the sixth. It was his 32nd homer of the year. He now has a home run in three straight games and in four of his last five. The two-hit outing also extended his hit streak to six games. During that span, Olson has gone 9-for-21 (.428) and has improved his batting average from .233 to .240.
