Calhoun will sit for the second straight game after taking a seat in Wednesday's contest versus the Rockies as well. Bubba Thompson will start in left field and bat ninth against Detroit.

Marlins' Garrett Cooper: Back from injured list
Cooper (concussion) was reinstated from the 7-day injured list Friday, Paige Leckie of MLB.com reports.
Cooper played in two rehab games with Single-A Jupiter this week and is now back with the Marlins after briefly being sidelined by a concussion. The 31-year-old should see regular playing time down the stretch for Miami, especially after Jesus Aguilar was designated for assignment Friday to make room for him on the active roster.

Montero is not starting Friday versus the Mets.
Montero will stay on the bench for the second straight contest and third time in the last four games. Charlie Blackmon will remain at designated hitter while Wynton Bernard enters the lineup in center field and bats ninth against New York.

Guerrero went 2-for-5 with a walk, a run scored and two RBI in Thursday's extra-inning win over the Red Sox.
The first baseman continues a surge at the plate that started just before the All-Star break. Guerrero has hit safely in 30 of his last 33 games, slashing .333/.383/.558 over that stretch with six homers, a surprising four steals, 22 RBI and 24 runs.

Red Sox's Bobby Dalbec: Two RBI in loss
Dalbec went 1-for-4 with two RBI, one run scored and one steal in Thursday's extra-inning loss to the Blue Jays.
The first baseman tied the game at 2-2 with an RBI single off Kevin Gausman in the second inning. Dalbec has been in a mini-slump during his last four games coming into Thursday, going 0-for-10. The 27-year-old had also struck out seven times with two walks during that span.

Vaughn went 2-for-4 with a double and a solo homer in Thursday's loss to Baltimore.
He led off the game with a home run off Jordan Lyles. Vaughn has struggled to find his power recently as this contest broke a seven-game stretch without an extra-base hit. The 24-year-old has hit 13 homers off righties in 308 at-bats this season and only one in 82 at-bats against lefties.

Mets' Pete Alonso: Swats 31st homer
Alonso went 2-for-4 with a two-run home run in Thursday's 3-1 win over Colorado.
Alonso provided all the offense Jacob deGrom and a trio of relievers needed to pull out a win with his two-run blast to left field in the third inning. The homer was his 31st of the season, tied for fourth most in the majors. Alonso is also tied for third in the big leagues with 104 RBI on the campaign.
